Recoil issues

Post by Derek Attree »

Hi Elefant builders.
I am getting near to being finished with my conversion to a Ferdinand but I am
having issues with the recoil spring not pulling the main gun back to the cut out in the cam
despite shortening it 30mm :(
There is no paint on the barrel where it goes through the bushes and it seems a nice sliding fit does
anyone else have ideas or did anyone else have this issue. ?

Still playing around with things on that.

Regards

Derek

Hi Derek,
I have recently installed the recoil in my Elefant and everything worked perfectly after a little bit of messing around withe the 2 switches. The only thing extra I did was to add a rubber stop to stop the slide smashing into the end of its slot on full recoil.
Not the best photo but it may help.

I am away from home for the next week, if you are still stuck when I get back I can post some better photos.
Regards
Steve

Hi Steve
Thanks for the input my problem is the spring does not pull the barrel back
when the cam rotates round to the square cut out .
I remember the RC sparks guys saying they shortened the spring for the same reason
I will carry on and shorten it some more unless Kian or Chris have some answers or solutions.

Regards

Hi Guys
So a small update to close this down after an email from Chris I stripped it down
and found 3 small machining ridges on the parallel section of the barrel that goes through the bushes
on the ball mount and these were causing drag.
A couple of minutes in the lathe with a bit of fine emmery cloth to polish those out and
then I put the ball mount in the lathe and polished the inside of the plastic bushes to remove some slight turning
marks in those.

Now it is as smmoth as silk. :D

Thanks again for the input
