Centurion 32

Post by Ray Brown »

G'day. I've dry assembled 1 set of bogies for anyones reference if your confused by the drawings. To get the ball joints fitted I partly screwed the ball joint into the swing arm and used a bench vice to slowly squeeze the ball socket onto the ball joint. It was so easy. Pics attached.

cheers

Ray

G'day. I've found that the road wheels rub against the bogies if the axles are tightened per instruction book. Axle appears to be to short. Pics attached.

Ray,

The road wheels look to have been fitted wrongly, they should be fitted back to back on the outside of the hub. It looks as though you have sandwiched the hub between the pair of wheels which would make the inner one rub on the housing. Hope you have only done one pair as there are a lot of bolts to undo.

I fitted all my bogeys and the tracks yesterday as a dry fit and it moves beautifully along. I was so thrilled to see the hull move for the first time, brilliant engineering.

Regards, Mick

Clever thinking Ray. Potentially solves many problems, like finding sheet aluminium (in the Channel Islands), the cost of postage if sourced in the UK mainland, not having the tools to work the aluminium and so on.
Your tank is coming together well, and looking good

Wow. So long since I posted here. Well here are some pics of when I gave it a run at a friends house. Still not finished as in turret bin lids being fabricated, turret basket being worked on, etc but it drives, traverse, fires, recoils. So in between working on bits & pieces I run it whenever possible.

I've found some mesh, which was used in the snake cage that I've cut and zipped tied to the basket frame so that I can trim then solder. It really makes a difference to the tank.
