David,

I think I made a mistake here. The arm Gill had sent me was a
P III arm. As far as I know, they are not working on a P II Actually, as iunderstand the P II arm is very different, kind of like the P IV suspension, but backwards, reversed. I intend to make that too,

How is your P IV coming a long? I liked the camo so far as it was done. I had seen paterns like that on P IIIs. If I do an N PIII I will copy it maybe.

Take care,
Brian

Brian, I wouldn't worry about the model of the arm

I think there's a viral wave starting on the forum to get the next model to be a Panzer II

A wave to which I would certainly add my support

Any derivatives of the PzII chassis? If so we might get a universal PzII hull.
If not, we will just have to cope. ;)

Hi Brian,

Sorry for the confusion.
I took advantage of your typo (You typed PII instead of PIII at one point) to make another (viral) plug for a PzII.

Also, you have me confused with someone else. I only have a PzIII and German halftrack..

Cheers...

Hi Brian,

The Swing Arms are looking very good :D

It's interesting to see that there are a lot of different skills in the community and how various people tackle the same problem. Casting the Swing Arms is an impressive solution. Your testing regime still makes me smile

Folks,

Yesterday, Brian sent me a "sample" of his Panzer III/Stug III Aluminum Swingarms.

I can only say that I have been in awe of it from its arrival. I got a "in-the-raw" sample arm; but, with a bastard file, some emery cloth, and a stainless wire brush - I had it dress-out in less than 20 minutes! The casting was THAT GOOD!

And, the only time I have put it down since was to sleep last night.

Now, I do believe that Brian's planning to offer them up for thos interested in a finished form - dressed casting , drilled, and threaded. So, they can be purchased for simple painting and install for those who are interested.

I know, we have seen some nicely modified swingarms; but guys, all I can say is.....IT AIN"T THE SAME!

I have already sent Brian an email "begging" for more!

I can't say more, you just have to "experience" them!
Thanks,

Jim

The arm arrived at last, WOW its fabulous. What is the chance of more, preferably drilled and taped?

Thanks again for the sample.

Paul,

I have cast about 36-40 swingarms. Now I need to machine them.

I bought a three axis DRO for the mill. Prepretory to installing the DRO I have been doing some maintanence on the mill.

Somewhere on the front of the machine should be the warning:

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME
(not that I would have listened :?)

Actuall it is not too bad. Kinda need to make a new part, but I need the mill to do that. It is not critical so, I'll put it back togather today and start teh DRO install.

It never ends. I am glad I like this kind of work.

This week the mill, than I start maching (with confidance!)

Cheers!

Hi Brian

Photos! Photos! I'm dying here! :) Although my Stug III is on the back burner for now, would like to know if these will be available for the build when the time comes.

Thanks
best regards

Tim,

You got to get a set! I have to tell you that Brian's swingarm are AWESOME!

Even if you install them on as an upgrade - they really make the tanks - IMHO!

I am hoping to get back to mine soon (AGH! hate when work gets in the way of the hobby!)

Best Wishes!
Thanks,

Jim

Brian,
Nice work on the castings, can't wait to see 'em machined and finished.

The mill will be excellent after refurbish and DRO install. They are good machines and worth the effort to restore. Nice job!

Bob
