John’s Czech Hedgehog
Received the little hedgehog kit this morning. Looks a nice little “weekend” kit.Bought just the one for now to see what it’s like.
I’ll be finishing mine in the very dark blue as often used in the east rather than the beach brown.
Filling in the button head bolts with putty will be a bit tedious. Some experimenting to do texturing the finish and adding some rust on some scrap angle section.

Assenbled and I think I’ve got the bolt pattern right.
Also tested the textured paint on some scrap. Will look good once the final colour is applied and rusted a bit.

Re: John’s Czech Hedgehog
The bolt patterns do seem to vary a lot. Found a photo of two sitting side by side and they had been bolted together differently. May make some minor changes and will be fitting a few hex head bolts as again found photos where a few hex head bolts had been used.
Two sections were fastened together in the factory and the third fitted in the field which would explain the differences.

Re: John’s Czech Hedgehog
Applied putty to the button head bolts. A light sanding then ready for priming. Used Green Stuff putty which I find so much better than Milliput and much easier to work with. Could never go back to Milliput. Makes nice weld detail as well.
Fitted a few hex head bolts instead of the button head bolts. Found when researching the subject this happened quite often. Field repairs I assume.

Re: John’s Czech Hedgehog
Just add rust.
Primed, textured paint applied and the Tamiya matt paint mixed to the approximate shade of dark blue used in the east.Decided to not go with the brown as used on the beaches it is so commonly seen in models despite not being the colour used often inland. Work done in filling in the button head bolts was worth it.
Light rust to be applied and finished with matt clear.

Re: John’s Czech Hedgehog
Not being happy with the rust decided to repaint in very dark blue. Looks almost black. I’ll leave it this way for a while while deciding what to do about rust.

Don't know about creating rust?
Leave it outside for a while, it will soon go rusty, and it will be proper rust, not simulated
