Sherman re-build
Hi I recently purchased a second hand original Sherman kit that had been partially built and never finished. I have stripped it down and have started refurbishing it for a gradual rebuild over the next few months. I am converting the body so that it is removable in exactly the same way as the Tamiya Sherman to make access to the internals very easy.

Re: Sherman re-build
Mark your Sherm is looking good. The gear cases don't really need any grease, but a little on the teeth of the big gear won't hurt. I wouldn't pack it full, the grease and oil will separate and the oil will leak out of all seams. It looks realistic but is a dust and dirt magnet. I learned the hard way.

Re: Sherman re-build
As David says, but I also filed the return roller axle down so that it was level with the top of the pillow block.

Re: Sherman re-build - more progress
Hi more progress on the Sherman re-build. I countersunk the return roller axle fixing screws and this resolved the track horn clearnace problem. Some more pictures on the build follow. The electrics are going in, some temporary as I am waiting for a Benedini sound unit. The body and turret have been etch primed ready for finishing details to be applied. I need to get some speakers - any advice as to the best type and size and how to mount them?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Sherman re-build
Good progress Mark
I've been very impressed with the Tannoy ones Armortek are supplying.
One should fit either side of the smoke module, at the back.
Adrian.

Re: Sherman re-build
Hi Adrian do you know what the part number is for the Tannoy speakers that Armortek use?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Sherman re-build
I think they are Tannoy SFX 5.1 satellite speakers.
They make black and silver versions.

Re: Sherman re-build
Hi just finished building and etch priming the turret and body. Most of the electrics now installed in the chassis.

Some more progress on the re-build. Hatch handles and welds added plus other minor details.
Thanks,
