Barrel Assembly

I have a slight problem and would welcome advice. What stops the barrel from sliding off the gun cradle assembly? Had I not used a strong loctitie thread lock on the barrels I would have put a captive spring on the recoil rod. The other option I have thought about is to use the lower bracket with a bolt drilled up through the base of the slide trough to act as a buffer.
Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated?

Hi Collin, its been awhile since I finished the 88, but I used a compression spring with the rod running through it, this had a disk on one end, it allowed the barrel to travel backward and then return under its own power

Hi Jeff

I thought that would be the best solution but I'm not sure how to get the spacer tube and recoil block undone as the thread lock that I used was Loctitie 638. I have done a lot of work on the block and I'm worried that if I use mole grips I'll cause a lot of damage.

To release loctite's you con sometimes free it with heat
or try acetone

Derek's suggestion of heat is the best method.

From the Loctite 638 data sheet:

For Disassembly
1. Apply localized heat to the assembly to approximately 250Â°C. Disassemble while hot.
