Wiring Question

Post by ericault »

Newbie here! I've built and wired a few rc vehicles, but this is my first tank. I'm used to drive being synchronized. However, if I've wired this (leopard) correctly, one track is controlled by moving the stick L/R and the other by moving the stick U/D....Therefore, the way to get straight forward motion is to move the stick to a perfect 45 degree angle - with slight variations clockwise or counterclockwise resulting in turns. Does this sound correct? I haven't missed something like a Y cable somewhere, have I? Thanks in advance!

You need to mix the two stick directions together in the transmitter so that moving the stick affects both track channels together.

What transmitter do you have ?

Thank you! It's a FlySky PL 18 EV Paladin. I'm not in front of it at the moment, but I get what you're saying and that sounds like something I should be able to get in there and figure out. It seems to have a LOT of programable features. Thanks again.

A friend uses one and it seems to work very well. Except I have to upgrade the RX firmware everytime he buys a new tank :D

I think this is the section you want.

I have the Paladin EV18, I love it in fact. I use both single stick and the individual track sticks on the side of the radio. I use a button on the radio to switch back and forth. I watched the Hobby Concepts video to learn how to program it. He has a series of videos on the radio. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Mark

Thank you! I'm at work, but I have that exact video queued up and ready to watch this evening when I get home. Bob (from Hobby Concepts) is great! I previously bought a Beier sound system from him (and will probably buy another one now...) I thought about switching to the dual levers for motion, but with your tip, maybe I'll setup both and see which I like better. I appreciate the response and advice!
