Re: Panther G (July 1944 version)
Hi Folks.
This is looking a cracking build, I am looking forward to mine arriving.
What's the chances of an options pack, to upgrade to a late Panther G; i.e. chin gun mantle and the crew heater fittings which would give an option for changes?
Of course there are other variations, Just a thought.
Evening all.
Charles

Any variations that we make need to be planned in quite early on - especially as we commit to production numbers and get the materials ordered in quite early on.Charles A Stewart wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 9:36 pm

In addition, making 1 or 2 of a part is not financially viable, it really needs to be in the double digits - otherwise all the design, set up, tooling, prototyping etc costs need to be recovered over the 1 or 2 parts.
Having said all that - we do actually still have stock of the cast larger fan cases. Maybe we will put a couple in the shop for the Open Day.

great additon the perspex periscope, a bit of paint will make it realistic
did you updated the bracket for the rear hatch to have a vertical axis rather than parallelto the rear wall?

Re: Panther G (July 1944 version)
This week we have started the massive job of packing up the Panther G parts.
And when we say massive, we really do mean MASSIVE. We need to pack up .....
- Over 6 tons of metal
- Over 13,000 parts need to be bagged or wrapped in either foam or anti rust paper
- Almost 100,000 fasteners need to be counted out and bagged
Packing is progressing smoothly so far ... but there is still a way to go.
By Tuesday 4th October we should be able to give a better indication of the likely shipping date for the kits. Not long to wait now!

Re: Panther G (July 1944 version)
Hello, I thought of a question since this is a specific date tank do we also know what factory or manufacturer it would be modeled after?
Any shipping updates?
Thank you!

Re: Panther G (July 1944 version)
Morning Brian, I think the kit is more of a generic kit based on the early Ausf G models. Manufacturers of the Ausf G are
M.A.N
March 44 - 2. Fgst. Nr 120302
April 44 - 105. Fgst. Nr 120407
Through to April 1945
Daimler Benz
May 44 - 78. Fgst. Nr 124378
June 44 - 120. Fgst. Nr 124498
Through to April 1945
M.N.H
July 44 - 108. Fgst. Nr 128408
August 44 - 131. Fgst. Nr 128539
Information comes from page 89 "Germanys Panther Tank the quest for combat supremacy"
Depending on which theatre you want to base your build on could help narrow down the manufacturer of the Panther you would like to build, if you wanted to base your build on Normandy there are some divisions which were never issued the Ausf G one of them being 2.Panzer Division who were mainly equipped with Ausf A with up to 4 Ausf D, they never received any Ausg G until after they were withdrawn back to Germany. The majority of Ausf G that served in Normandy would have been from the M.A.N factory with a small number from Daimler Benz, I have yet to see a confirmed picture of an M.N.H built Ausf G in the Normandy theatre.
Using this list to help identify allocation numbers it may be possible to identify a particular division a Panther was allocated to, however the list does not show which Ausf was issued to a given division;

After this we then need to rely on pictures.
some unit histories using Panzer regiment numbers as opposed to the division number which can vary.
https://www.panther1944.de/index.php/en ... -histories
book's to help with detail are;
"Germanys Panther Tank the quest for combat supremacy"
Panzer Tracts No.5-3
Achtung Panzer - No.: 4 old but still very relevant.
Tankograd In-Detail Panther G - Jagdpanther
Panther and it's variants Walter J. Spielberger
PANTHER EXTERNAL APPEARANCE & DESIGN CHANGES exceptional book
Nürnberg’s Panzer Factory a photographic study
Panther in detail Ryton Publications
Try and steer clear of Waldemar Trojca his books are full of errors.
This is a page of Panther related books covering all variants.
