Tiger 213 refurbish.
It's very busy at my tankshop right now, I have 3 commission builds due in early next month, I have 4 Tiger1 on the go one of which is TIger 213.
This was to be a winter project but I need to get it to a good standard and sold to free up bench space so I've been working flat out.
I've installed the new motion pack, batteries, sounds and radio and she's up on the ramps for a total rewire and an overall of the oily bits.

Re: Tiger 213 refurbish.
Hi Simon, a photo should tell all. For a new build I use an angle gauge but go just a little more than the build manual suggests to allow for settling.

Re: Tiger 213 refurbish.
What do you put the ‘settling’ down too: torsion bars loosing some spring or moving against the retaining screws? I ask as I set mine to about 34 degs and reckon it’s riding approx 20mm too high, but that’s with zero run time (fully loaded).

Re: Tiger 213 refurbish.
Maybe a little to high, the grub screws will settle at both ends of the torsion bar along with the swing arm thread. I would run yours for a bit and suck it and see, the weight of the the batteries is a factor to, also the older releases were heavier than the later models.

Hi Phil, one of your photo intrigues me:
The caption of this photo said : " The gubinz tray fabricated from 1mm steel sheet. This will be extended for the speakers and smoke unit."
Are you going to drill holes for fasteners? And extend it for speakers and smoke unit? I like to see the extended part.
I have the 2007 genuine tray (See next photo), which is 40cm long, included 3 pairs of pre-drill fastener holes.
Regards,
Lerh Chang

How Tiger 213 ended its days. This photo taken after the Ardennes offensive late 1944.

Re: Tiger 213 refurbish.
What do you guys prefer, the smoke stack with the deflector or the one without? No high pressure smoker this time just a bored out KT smoke unit and a slightly more powerful fan, the effect is almost over the top for indoors but will be just fine outside, I'm not so keen on the way the smoke falls out the bottom of the stack with the deflector.

Re: Tiger 213 refurbish.
213 is now coming together, I've started on the general weathering, the rear deck is now lowered, the tow cables look a lot better.
Lots more weathering to do, the general paintwork has been very well done indeed.

Re: Tiger 213 refurbish.
I have that option but I'm happy with the look so far, if I do it will only be 50% of the amount I lowered the deck. Are you keeping busy with the used model market, I'm finding good models difficult to find? I love the all steel Tigers they are heavy weights for sure and behave in a more prototypical way. This one will be for sale very soon and will make an excellent ready to run and enjoy example.

Re: Tiger 213 refurbish.
Hi,
Just busy with my collection, just a couple more to add
then that's me done.... probably got around 20 years of work maybe longer at my speed!
2007 late tiger is a good model to pick up second hand as its very similar to latest releases.
Good models have always been hard to find! Seems to ba a few old tigers appearing on Ebay, perfect for someone starting out.
Cheers
