P Clips

Post by Greg Clement »

I have been following the Chieftain builds with great interest, they are a huge help to us newbies. Like most people I’m still working on the detail of the rear hull plate and exhaust box (see Photo) and I’m at the stage where I need to build some conduit and P Clips.

Can someone give me guidance on how to make the P clips? I have some 0.5mm aluminium but not sure of a good way to cut it neatly or drill holes without the drill bit catching and deforming the clips.

Any help or pointers to YouTube videos would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi Greg
I used .5 mm brass cut into strips and formed around the pipe. Leave plenty of excess length as you will need this to hold when drilling. I drilled mine 1/16 inch dia (a new drill really helps hear). Once drilled I cut off the excess length.
It may take a bit of practice but once you get good results it becomes quite easy.
This is one I did

Hi Greg
I use Gilbow tin snips, easy to use on thin sheet material.
