Hi Ivano

I took a file and removed 3 mm of the tracklink part that face down and have the road contact, so it will be like it is heavily used and wormed

Hope this helps. Have no possibility to take pictures of this mod at the moment
cheers

I also don't understand. That would increase the gap - not decrease it. Or?
A little too much is about right...

My fault - my problem was slightly different.

I had a setup where the bottom part of the tracklink made contact to the turret side and the upper part was ok. Therefore I grinded the track link down to make space on the lower part.

What can be done to the problem that Ivano have, is maybe to extend the lower hanger from the turret side so that it sits 2.3 mm further away from the turret side. This will of course give a gap between the hanger and the turret side, but this can be hidden with milliput.

Or - if you have the tools - male a new set of the lower hanger that compensate the spacing challenge
cheers

Application for the most experienced:
in my kit (2010 mid) there are all these tools, aren't they too many?
Where should they be placed? The instructions are not clear and even from the holes on the bridge I can't understand. Can someone help me?
Thanks Ivano

I think the pick-axe (third from bottom) and the small axe (fifth from bottom) are not part of the standard tools for the Tiger 1. The long spade or snow shovel (first from bottom) depends on the period you are building your model to. You also need a pry-bar which is not shown in photo.

I have the following diagrams for tool location depending on the period you are working on:

1) September 1942
2) December 1942
3) January 1943
4) February 1943
5) March-April 1943
6) August 1943 (Befehlswagen)
7) September 1943
8) October 1943
9) June 1944

If you tell me which one you want I can take a photo and send it to you via email. Send me your email address via PM.

Hi Ivano
Photos sent via email.
Pry bar is not part of the kit even in mine. I got mine from FOA or you can make one.

Hi Ivano

It's good to see you back on the forum. I was a bit worried with the situation over there in Northern Italy.

Are you using ready mixed tile adhesive or are you mixing it yourself? It could be that the adhesive mixture is a bit dry and maybe needs a bit of extra liquid to make it wetter. I went back to my photos and did not have those cracks. It could be because it is drying too fast.

I used ready-mixed tile adhesive when I did the hull and it was OK. Later on when I came to use the same adhesive for the turret I found that it had dried a little. It was harder to apply and dried very quickly. So I bought a fresh pot of adhesive. Most probably if I had added a little water or PVA and re-mixed the old adhesive it would have ben OK.

I found only one type of ready-to-use glue for MAPEI tiles. It is rather grainy and not very "pasty" when you use the tool to create lines, you drag and don't make the grooves. I added a little bit of tile glue powder to get a more grout-like compound and waited a little bit before working it. I will do other tests.

Hi Phil,
thanks for your interest, we're fine.
Yesterday after reading Vince, I did other tests for zimmerit but the result is always the same,
cracks appear and is very rough. this is the product i used, the only one found here before the virus. I also tried with a powder glue, but it is the same result.I can't get a smooth and smooth zimmerith like yours However, I enlarged some photos of real tanks and I saw that even the original one was rough and with cracks, I would do it like that, what do you think? Thanks Ivano

Ivano, the last three photos look so much better. No cracks. Don't worry if it looks rough.

In bocca al lupo.
