Tiger1 " tard-mid" !!??

I started to build my tank again.
It is a tiger "mid 2010". I understand that it does not reflect reality in many things.
So we must think that it is a "tard mid", that is, a bit medium and a little late.
I ask these questions:
I) why did this milling take place on the turret ring?
II) to simplify the work, I thought of "furnishing" the internal tower as a delay.
On the walls was a hook or something, or was it all contained in the storage compartments? Thank you. As always, I hope you understand what I wrote

Stunning work on the turret internal parts, blow my socks off!
Myself I never bother the Panzer inside but can appreciate others effort in this matter, well done!

Regarding the milling I think it is a way of reducing weight on the model.
On my own Tiger1 kit, the first edition of the Late type, there are several semi circular milling made instead.

One thing I notice at the inside of your turret if you don't mind me pointing this out.
The color look very white but the RAL 1001 Elfenbein was not white, more like very light mustard.

Myself I did that misstake with my Hetzer described at the Armorpax forum but it is sadly now gone from the net.

the color is just the primer, I have not painted anything yet.
I ask another question: where should the leg be attached to point "B"?

Here is the system to raise the gun of my tank, very similar to the real and ... it works.
The front leg that supports the turret floor does not have the same geometry as the original, I had to change it because the Armortek turret ring is not in scale.

Ivano, congratulations on your build, always something new to enjoy. Your new rack and pinion elevation mechanism looks very simple and effective. It should overcome the lack of responsiveness of lead screw system supplied as standard. Full size elevation mechanisms usually have a curved rack in order to maintain a linear relationship between the gun elevation and input via the elevation hand wheel or electro-mechanical controls. That would overcome the limitation with a linear servo as I've used on my Centurion but unless you're actually intending to indulge in some live firing, it's academic really. It will be interesting to see if a 3D printed rack is sufficiently robust to be durable without a balancing counter-weight on the gun cradle.

Good to see Kent's links on RAL 1001 Elfenbein, pointing out that it wasn't white. There was a debate on another thread about the interior colour of hatches, suggesting that RAL 1001 was used. This issue is unresolved. The policy throughout the war was that hatches opening to the exterior should be painted in the same colour as the exterior (which makes sense) but there are certainly examples where this was ignored.

Hi Sthephen,
the curved rack, not printed in 3D, is made of nylon fiber. It is a special gear material. We will see if with the use coupled to the steel of the pinion it will wear, or it will have problems.

work in progress, the piece is almost finished, I'll try to do the clinometer, then I stop. What I do not know how to do, is the external part of this mechanism, I have not found any photos, what is in the central hole? And then, what was it for? Does anyone have information?

From having worked on Chieftain, Challenger 1 and Challenger 2, I would suggest the assembly has two purposes.
1) To automatically open the breech upon recoil so the spent shell would be ejected.
2) The cam would be sprung loaded to push it to the front of the slot and recoil would force it rearwards along the slot according to the distance recoiled. On the outside would be a linkage which taps against the slider ( the middle piece ) on the gun recoil indicator ( the item with the scale in Photo 4 ). This would show the crew how far the gun was recoiling and would have a cease fire marking if the gun was recoiling an unsafe amount of distance and was reaching a dangerous level.

I have finished all the internal parts of the tower, now I have to paint them but I have many doubts. Even the photos do not help me
Starting from Mr. Byrden's scheme, I do not understand what color were some mechanisms that are above and below the color division line.
Is the elevation gearbox white or red? It should be white, but from the picture it looks red.
The beam, with the entire seat, is red but the firing mechanism looks white with the small black steering wheel. All the balancing of the pistol, including the piston, all red, or half biano and half red? Are the legs all red or even these with separate colors? The seats, what color are they?
I ask for help because I do not want to commit gross errors.
