Panther Paint and weathering

Hi everyone

Worked on the next step some today. Added the balkan crosses and light paint chips. The next step (after turret numbers)will be slightly more wear around hatches and exhaust, followed by a nice layer of dust on the lower hull and running gear to hopefully blend everything together. The tow cables still need to get their final paint.

Hi Tim
That is WOW WOW..I love the chip detail it look so real. how did you do that?
I left my tow cables out in the garden and I have some great rust shades on them.
I need to darken the twisted part down with some gun metal and black.
It is too cold to do the winter wash today as my heater has packed up in the workshop.
I think the paint won't dry.
We woke up to some snow today and now it's freezing rain.

Tim,

That is one superb paint job. I am convinced you have a real Panther to photograph!! As asked how are you doing the chips, they look so realistic. I have heard of people actually chipping the paint then addng a little steel coloured paint to the base of the chip.

As far as the paint chips go, I have Dave Dibb to thank for that. The link to his very nice Stug IV project's paint job is on page one of this thread.

What, no pictures on one of Tim's posts!!!??? I know, I can hardly believe it myself.

Will be adding a layer of dust next weekend.

The dust looks awesome, just like looking at the real tank. Your numbers look great too. Did you make a template for them?

Fantastic paint job. I love looking at all the detail, its like a museum piece.
