John, welcome to this great community. You’ll find all the help you need here. May I suggest you read through the Basic Topics on the Knowledge Base? You’ll find most of the answers you need there. And the answer to your question is: you don’t need to but the Chieftain steel tracks would benefit from etch priming and some colour and weathering. The latter is a matter of personal taste.enjoy your model - it’s addictive. Stephen.
Thanks for the prompt reply , just finding my way around this site , have to say am well impressed with the build quality and commitment to detail , being a newby to the community hope I can get somewhere close , cheers .
As Stephen says, painting tracks is a personal preference. I’m painting mine individually, not sure if the paint will stay on, only time will tell but it sure looks good at the moment.
Thanks Richard for the reply , will definitely paint . Already hit a stumbling block two number hull brackets,A ES0106 are missing so can’t build the hull .
John, If you look at my blog 'A Chequered Chieftain at #10', you'll see what I did. Am not saying its correct but it may give a few idea's on how to approach it. Would highly recommend doing a full parts check if you haven't already; even with best intentions, these things can and do happen. If you contact Armortek via email, I'm sure they will send out replacement parts.
