Assembly of the chassis started today .. already weights over 10kg !

What can I say?.....superb!
A couple of questions, are you able to fit the standard motor/gearbox units used for the Tigers and Panthers or are you putting together bespoke units dedicated to the Famo?
Also I'm presuming that the power required to run the Famo will be similar to say the Panther or maybe the KT?

@Phil,

The motors will be the normal drive motors with our high efficiency gearboxes.
Not sure what you mean by the power, but the torque from the gearboxes will be the similar to the King Tiger.

Thanks for the reply Kian, ref the power, I'm not sure how you calculate the "power" or "torque" of such a model, running gear friction values, weight/mass to be moved etc but if it has the same available torque of the KT with less weight and so long as we can achieve traction (we may need to add ballast, just as the crews did in the field) the Famo model should have tremendous pulling power, I am looking forward to conducting some recovery trials of my own to establish just what this impressive model is capable of! All on VT of course.

Looking great so far! A question though: with similar torque to a King Tiger, which must have the widest track links of all the kits, will the Famo links be able to take the strain? Are they cast aluminium?

I would think that the added grip of the rubber pads will be an equalizer!

I meant will the links themselves be strong enough? Perhaps they are cnc’d steel?
