6th Scale Icons Update

Post by Loic (6thScaleIcons) »

Dear 6SI followers!

We are continuing to add more 6SI products to our website. Please check our Facebook page for updates https://www.facebook.com/pages/Field-of ... 2040259765

We are ready to release the Tiger 2 mudguards. However, I noticed that Mike did not quite finish this product. The locking brackets are still from the Tiger I mudguards. Since we just re-establish a relationship with a PE manufacturer taking the "drop out" PE system that Mike used, we are still some ways until producing our own PE sets. So the Tiger 2 mudguards will ship with these slightly shorter brackets, and we will offer the new brackets when they are produced (and send them to customers who ordered the kit).

But my main question is actually with the Mudguard "Hold Up Bracket". I see how the small bracket with two holes works on the back of the Tiger 2, but I don't have any photo to see how this mechanism works. I see that Mike put a hole on the mudguard rib. Anyone with information/photos? Most of the Museums Tiger 2 don't have the mudguards.

Cheers from sunny Utah

Hi Loic, It is with great pleasure to hear you plan to finish the heretofore unfinished projects that Mike offered and intended to finish.
I personally look forward to the IR Scopes as those were quite intriguing to the Panther. As to whether or not they ever saw service on the KT or Jadgpanther is subject to speculation (or the 'missing' photograph). It certainly was a device years ahead of it's time. I am completely fascinated by this device and look forward to receiving my orders.
Remember the lens on this device was blue, not red as one would think. With a bit of clever fitting one could operate the Panther in the dark via a video feed with a real IR device.
All the Best,
Bill

As I looked through the old drive of the "late" Mike Stannard, creator of 6th Scale Icons, I thought it would be a nice tribute to post some of the pictures from the life of this creative and productive artist - with his own comments...

Hi Loic,

Great photos of a great and honourable man. I bought a muzzle brake from Mike a couple of years ago where a
brass locking washer was missing. Not a real problem as far as I was concerned so I didn't push for a replacement. In fact, I had completely forgotten about it, however, Mike hadn't though. A few months prior to Mike passing and a year or so after the brake had been purchased a envelope arrived containing the washer with a note. I hadn't even told him it was missing. I still have that envelope with the washer and the note therein as a memento. Just a little note to highlight Mikes integrity.

Rest in Peace Mike

Rob
