Mike Stannard

Post by Ray Brown »

G'day guys. I've emailed Mike twice in 2 weeks to get an order update to no no avail. Has anyone received any orders or emails lately? I know his health has been iffy lately and hope all is well. Having said that my order is 7 months outstanding.

Cheers
Ray

Hello Ray
My order is also 7 months outstanding. I did receive half of it a few weeks back, but Mike is not answering any of my emails regarding the remainder. I understand he's not been well, but I think we deserve more clarity!
I wonder how many are in this situation?
Cheers,
Simon.

Hi,

This is a posting I hoped I wouldn't need doing but sadly I also need some information how things are in this matter.

I also have a 7 months old order and as today got nothing and no reply to any of my mails.
My order contain 2 jacks, lock tabs, rifle plug and some other minor stuff I understand From Mikes forum posting he has in stock. Everything as kit and nothing that needs assembling from Mike.
Beside Mikes sadly health issue I can't understand why my order isn't shipped yet and to be frank I am beginning getting worried I will ever see them...

Sitting calm half round the world from LV waiting patiently in silence for my items and the numerous over the years helping I have assisted Mike with getting his items historically accurate has not helped me.
So yes Im worried, very worried.

Kind regards
Kent

I recived my order from december a week ago but i didint get the mudguards.
Everything elese was in there so i think he must have missed them.
Im sure you will have your order soon.
Though i can understand your wonder.
As ive sent Mike some emails and posts here aswell, i havent had a reply in 4 days.
and he usually responds within hours with a time difference.
So i have the same wonders about my mudguards as i added them to my order as he is closing down buisness i thought it was a last opportunity to get them.

Regards
Fredrik

I've received panzer 4 parts last year and some Tiger 1 parts and they were delivered within 5 months and good quality work. This time though his health has worsened and with a last call, which saw a flood of orders, I think it's overwhelmed him. An update post would be good though.

I have emailed him recently with a small order/ enquiry, as I am visiting Vegas in a few weeks, last year, before his illness, he was most helpful, picked me up at my hotel, showed me his workshop, and supplied the balance of my order as requested, I was hoping for similar this year, but alas he has not answered my email.

I received my order about a week ago in the UK, so I would give Mike a chance, especially as if his been ill.

I've been buying parts for my tiger over the last few years and he has always come through with the goods.

Hi All; I recieved an order about a month ago, that I, like many of you, placed back in December. All was in good order with it. It's my understanding that Mike is absolutely swamped, both in terms of orders and Emails. Remember, everyone thought he was retiring back then and that triggered a tidelwave of orders. Orders that probably emptied out everyone's wishlist. Soon after that he took ill and was in the hospital for awhile. Orders backlogged even more I'm sure. Which in turn, triggered a flood of Emails. I'm guessing, but his hired help probably speaks little English (as does a lot of hired help in that part of the US.). This might further explain the lack of Email response, and chaotic order status. From what I understand of his illness, therapy is quite draining both physically and mentally, to say nothing of the impact on your morale. It is also quite time consuming. Perhaps there are physical impairments that hinder the reading and writing of Email; I don't really know of his condition. It's my best guess, that this explains a lot of the situation here. Those of you who may have had any "Richard Tripp experiences" in recent years, might especially be concerned. I don't feel that's the case here. I can tell you all for certain however, that I've been buying from Mike for about 10 years now, and he's never failed to provide my orders, nor to correct a problem if one arose. The encouraging thing, is that the orders are still currently being received by many of you, albeit late. Hang in there.

G'day Guys. Please don't take this thread as a witch hunt or casting dispersions on Mike's integrity. Obviously from the responses orders are being processed, albeit slowly. That's all I was seeking, since Mike hasn't responded. I hope he is well and I appreciate his service. Cheers Ray.

I received a large order from Mike on June 13. It did not have the KT rear mudguards or exhaust screens. But I seem to recall items that needed to be assembled by Mike are going to take longer.

Mike has always come through in the 12+ years I have know him.

To All:
Has anyone heard recently from Mike Stannard or received any of their orders since the last posting of July 15th?
He is not answering emails or inquiry letters, so wondering if anyone else has had any communications with Mike Stannard, and if so, how was the communication made?

Hope he's ok. He was a bit ill awhile ago. He may have relapsed and is unable to communicate.

With a heavy heart, I have to write that Mike has passed away several weeks ago from his illness. I was recently contacted and notified this information by an associate of his. I'm surprised that news of his passing has not trickled it's way to the 1/6 newsgroups, being that Mike was a prominent personality in the 1/6 industry. From what I was told there are no plans to continue business and his shop is currently locked down as the rent is past due.

I would just like to add that... Mike was a giant in the hobby, a very helpful and pleasurable person to communicate with, and who's eye for detail reflected in his offering which were / are second to none. He has left some big shoes to fill, and all of us in the hobby owe him thanks for the work he was able to contribute through the years. He will be sourly missed by all who have met or ever associated with him. My thoughts go out to his wife and family. May he rest in Peace...farewell.

Very sad news, although I suspected something was up as Mike's website has been unavailable for a while now. I'm sure we all join with John in offering our condolences to Mike's family.
