Perhaps Armortek could create an Events Topic on this forum where owners could arrange and discuss meetings, such as the highly successful ones the Northern chaps have been enjoying at Leighton Hall :?:

Adrian.
Great idea Adrian  . The best are usually the most obvious.

Regarding an owners club, I thought this forum was exclusive for Armortek owners, with a couple of exceptions from the UKTC, so we are already part of the "club" and being a member of the UKTC solves the insurance problem in one go.
All, I think :?: , of the members who meet at Leighton Hall are members of the UKTC which is essential if your going to display and run your tanks in a public area. I agree there is still a little anomosity between the different model owners which is all very sad but can easily be ignored. Just MHO.
Thanks Antony

Before I wrote my post on the international idea I had thought of where this club may fit with the UKTC and other models, that is why I mentioned the international aspect of the club because the UKTC is national. This said it is going to be difficult to convince people what such a club can offer over and above what already exists, and the model specific aspect is potentially restricting. All I would like to see is a chance to meet and run models at a regular reasonably local venue.

Hi All

In response to Adrian's idea I have created an Events forum. I have moved all recent postings which would be appropriate to go in this forum. Unfortunately in doing so I managed to delete the War and Peace topic, I am really sorry  Could those of you who had contributed re enter your posts.

Again very very sorry

I have a foot in two camps and I'm a member of the UKTC.

If I can throw some idea's into the pot, you can dismiss if you wish, but following on from what Anthony says. If you want to be legal and above board and going to shows in the UK with other like minded people, then the UKTC does save all the trouble with insurance etc This is a must virtually everywhere where the public are in attendance.I'm sure the same would be true in other countries and quite likely the insurance requirements would be specific to the individual countries. So from that respect, a national organisation would fit in most cases.

Like other manufactures, Armortek do attend shows in their own right and have customers along, have an open day and have a forum. Alan mentioned the international aspect of owning an Armortek model, and this is valid but if there was a purely Armortek owners club event, how many people from overseas would attend anymore than they would UKTC events. After all Armortek are based in the UK.

The forum provides a very valid and worthwhile means of communicating information, ideas and veiws around the globe, the open day provides a means for those able to attend an opportunity to put names to faces and genrally chew the fat. I just wonder if you need to go to the extent of organising an owners club, what would it add more than is already available? After all this forum is only open to registered members, virtually all but a small number, who are Armortek owners.

Just playing devils advocate.

I have to say that I agree with a lot of what Gary said.
I am and probably a lot of UK Owners are members of the UK tank club
I also am a member of a boat club and Chair of a model engineering club too.
I dont need any more insurance and I do a lot of shows.
I just thought it would be nice to get some guys together and do shows like War and peace where the tank club and this year Armortek are not going.
Before you shout I know some UK tank guys go with M1.
But thats a private arrangement with the other Mark.
I was not expecting a committee to be set up and the forum is a
good place to arrange things if Gill is happy with that.
It would also be nice to have a get together in the North London or Essex area to run the tanks like the lads up north.

So Thats my 2 penny worth. :)
What do you think.?

Hi Bernard,

I have copied your post and e-mail it to Stuart (UKTC Secretary) to see what he can do. I have 2 computers at home and I can only log on with one. I get a similar message and mine mentions this Mozilla as well. Maybe our computers are infected :?:

I'll let you know Stuarts reply.

Thanks Antony

Hello Chaps

This is getting a bit out of hand  .I have to agree with Derek. Armortek cant get to every show so they depend on several people to represent them when ever possible. Now if there was An official Owners club that represents Armortek I cant see tha Harm in that. And from time to time we can meet around the country with our members and maybe have a BBQ or 2 As the other clubs do.As Gill can vouch for me being a host for a BBQ.MMMMMMMMM

Hi Derek,
that's not against you, just a wink about a "club spirit" who should not exist at Armortek's owners club...
Don't misunderstand that!

Bernard
I dont think that would be the case here and I for one have never had anything other than a warm welcome from the UK tank club and from ALL CAMPS,
If they actually exist at all which I think is a bit of very old history and we dont want to go there AT ALL.
I just want to build my tanks and have FUN
Which is what it is all about

I've had a thought or two sorry.

I'm not poo pooing the idea of a Armortek Owners Club, what I suggest, and you can shoot me down if you like, but it's only my thoughts is have your owners club, under pin your legal obligations with the UKTC, attend the UKTC events (if you want they are not compulsory) and do what Robin does, he has a Armortek name plate on his vehicle, wear your Armortek shirts etc... you can organise your own events again you legal obligations are covered under the UKTC banner. What I don't want is a return to the bad old days, Gill, Mark, Mark & UKTC, along with customers have come a long way to smooth out the "us and them" rubbish. As Derek said "I just want to build my tanks and have FUN    " I couldn't agree more :D

As for the international Armortek owners like wise, but join a local club for insurance etc... and wear/display with pride

Am I rambling sorry  I see this very simple more sales more potential members so as policy we "tup north" push all manufacturers, which reminds me Gill more leaflets please  (down in Yeovil for week in August may pop down to annoy you)
All Tanked up
