Hi Marcus,

Non of the walkarounds I have found give the brake drum detail clear enough for me to tackle yet. I am probably going to finish the bulk of the assembly "as is" then head of down to the Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson and get my own photo set. I will then start looking at any items I can add that may be worth producing.
Best regards

Hi Dave,
Try below link:

Scroll down a bit and there are some very detailed photo's of the brake drum. Another interresting detail is the connection of the axle to the frame. Remainder of the shots are also extremely usefull, clearly taken by a modeller!!

Cheers,

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

Thank you, excellent set, all added to the library now. Once the basic build is done I now feel a few updates may appear.

I think I am going to fabricate the curved angle from plastic then cast in white metal. Will slow the build but I think will be worth doing.

Cheers

Only parts missing in the photographs are from the linkage system connecting the drums to the brake lever and brake axis. Most surviving examples miss these parts.
This week I am going to visit the 'Artillerie Museum' here in Holland and hope to make some more pics. I'll post them in the walk around thread!

Regards,

Marcus

Hi All,

I've started fabricating the masters for the various angles around the rear of the trail. Not sure yet whether these are going to be resin or metal.

Best regards

Dave

Have you added brass strips to the top and bottom edge of the 'rails' as opposed to duplicating the real side plates?

Lateral thinking... excellent.

Now what's going on with that traversing ring?

Hi Carl,

Yes to the first and don't know yet to the second. Outer ring is just dry fitted till I figure the best way of redrilling and aligning the points with the spokes.

Hi All,

Making the various detail angles is going to take a while. I've had enough for tonight of drilling holes and cutting down the dummy rivets. 4 of the rivets are not dummies and will use 4 of the rivets supplied in the kit to locate the angle.

Best regards

Dave

Hi All,

Upper trail angle set master finished and about to go into a mould. I'm going to do these in resin first and see how they cast.

Best regards

Hi All,

Test cast has come out OK. In my haste to see it on I've not cleaned this one up that well and have another in the mould at the moment. I think I'll keep these in resin as easy to soften and bend to fit if there is any variation in the builds.

Best regards

Dave
