Flash for gun

Post by Steen Vøler »

hi all

Most of us have the MG wired to the benedini to get flash in the mg when firing it

What are the recommendations for a flash for i.e. a 88mm JagdPanther :D

Would really like the flash in the main gun

Any one having this as "plug'n Play" to buy

cheers

Steen Kameraden, I use a 10mm LED on my Tiger this can be taken from the spare positive for the MG flash.

Hi Steen.

Me again...

I've fitted a multi-LED flash system into Denny's KT and Panther.

The problem with the JP is that the gun pivot goes through the barrel, making it difficult to get a decent sized lead to feed the LEDs.

For the 75mm barrel, I used three 5mm LEDs, and for the 88mm I used three 8mm LEDs.

The trigger is taken from the Benedini board, as Mark says, but a PIC chip flashes the three LEDs independently, to give a more random effect. The LEDs are yellow and orange, to give a realistic multicoloured flash effect.

Hi Adrian 8)

Thought you would have a solution for me :D

the barrel will be drilled out so that there will be 100% open barrel end to end.

Could you build one for me and maybe do it so that I can disconnect the cable close to the mantlet where I normally disconnect the barrel for transportation :-)

I'm listening

Why not using a flash module as used for photography. Can led's provide the same strong flash ??

best regards

Poul

Poul.

Some people have used to the xenon flash tube, but to my mind the flash is too fast and too white, which is why I prefer the coloured LED method.

Here are a couple of videos showing the LED muzzle flash:

Indoors:

Outdoors:

The M4A3 Sherman barrel is not as impressive as the Axis guns it has no muzzle break to catch the colours from the LEDs.

Hi Mark

are there any news on the dates for the RAG event in 2014?

I am travelling to Normandy 4. July to 8. July to be there for the D-Day Landing 70 anniversary so I hope this will not conflict with the RAG dates

Steen, Pfingsten next year is the 8th and 9th of June, I will again attend from the 7th, for you it’s a very long drive from Normandy to Munster for 1 day but if you come keep me informed it would be nice to once again meet

Adrian, I would also be interested in this setup, the single LED setup I have is not that visible from the sides

Hi everyone
Did you see my vidios of my Flash and Recoil on my A34 Comet,on page 19 of my
Comet postings.
There are 3 or 4 vidios taken day and night and showing the flash with
the common Halogen light capsules 12V or 24V,I found 20 to 30Watt best and it was
fed through a Delay off Timer, you see the colours from white yellow to red, with
the time being adjustable.
In one video I tried 100 Watt but it was a bit too slow to start up.
This was all prior to Armortek Flash and Recoil, mine was definatly not a plug and
play job,but the night video colours look really good and the flash still looks
good against the bright sunlight.
Cheers
Phil
