New Tiger owner
Hi all
I have received great help from this forum so far, I have my tank running, R/C working fine, so my next question is.....How can I retrofit my mid Tiger to an earlier one, I like th early tank cupola and a few other of the early looks, are the parts available on the aftermarket?
Thanks
William

Re: New Tiger owner
Mike Stannard does the Early Cupola, as well as most of the other retro fit parts needed for an "Early" Tiger.
I see Steve Stuart has a set of Feifel air filters up on eBay at the moment as well.

Re: New Tiger owner
I saw the filters, but I believe?? That there is a version that has the cupola but not the filters, I know not yet, I must try to research a particular tank to make mine a model of.
Thanks

This web page lists the details as they appeared and disappeared, so you can find a time slot which includes the features you want on your model:

Re: New Tiger owner
Adrian,
Thank you, that is a good start, I am sure tracking down an actual Tiger will be more tricky, but it's a great challenge to keep me off the streets, the first thing is to get a new cupola kit from Mike Stannard, I will be in Vegas in August.

Re: New Tiger owner
Another question for the knowledgeable of you out there, I purchased my 'mid' Tiger built and running, ish. It now runs, and I have a sound system that eventually after a little re-programing of the 7c, also works, my new question is this, everybody I have spoken to has informed me that this Tiger, from a build in 2003, was designed for a blank firing system, rather than recoil, but here is the thing, the instructions are most specific about how to assemble the gun, if you do NOT fit the RECOIL, and the option pack that the last owner purchased, also refers to the mechanism for recoil, although he did not buy it. I am confused as I want recoil.

Re: New Tiger owner
The old Tiger models are not cpmpatible with the recoil system as far as I am aware. The blank fired is certainly not compatible with the recoil.
If interested in any parts used in my builds contact me at johnfitzsimons@msn.com for a price list.

Re: New Tiger owner
This is what I am told, but there is no mention of blank firing in the instructions, or the option pack, only recoil, I have pictures as well!

Re: New Tiger owner
A recoil system was in the process of being developed for the first Tiger and Sherman models, but it was overtaken by the blank firing system and was never marketed.

Re: New Tiger owner
Ah Adrian, that probably explains a couple of things, I am uploading a picture of the inside of my turret, and the recoil mechanism, which is of course a facsimile, rather than an actual photograph, I am certain that I can make recoil work, if I can purchase suitable components.

Re: New Tiger owner
I'm in the same boat as you here, William, with my 2010 mid tiger. It's also not recoil compatible, so we are on our own without any parts to rely on. The barrel is threaded on the inside, so my idea is to thread a tube to match and pass that through the hole in the mantlet and attach to a linear bearing, which, in turn, would be attached to the mantlet. All it takes is some threading in a lathe and machining of parts. Piece of cake!
Now, I don't happen to have the required machinery, which adds a dimension of complication...
Cheers,
/Chris

Shame you are in Sweden, we could have made a joint effort, I do have the machinery available, and, should I not want to do it myself, I have excellent machinists who can make it all, my barrel has been glued in so when I get the chance, I am on my way to Germany, I will attempt to press it out, if not, just make a new one, as you say, piece of cake.
