Tiger 1 track

G'day all. I've put together the track as per instructions of 97 and fitted them. I have tightened the tensioner but they still look very loose. Sorry no pictures yet. Does 97 seem right. How slack should track be given it will stretch.

P.S. It looks a beast with tracks on, not sure I want to put side guards on.

Hi Ray

The 97 figure is just a best guess starting point. If they look slack, take out one or two links. As a guide, the top run of track should have enough tension to lift clear of the second or third road wheel.

Just got me worried as I had read 94 also but thought they might be a little tight. Think I had copied someone else on the forum. Checked mine and yes 94. Just put extra on and they are way too loose. Doubt it would even drive. Mine slackened off with a little use and full weight of batteries and motors.

So try 94 with idler fully in but I did find joining them up difficult at first.

Actually on recount I have 93. But with extra link looks like yours. Yves has the mid tiger so could be an extra link as i think the idler is bigger ont the mid. It ran smoothly on 93.
Any body else have a count on the late tiger? I think 93 looks right.

There you go Ray. 93 links confirmed. I think the late model is different to the early or mid. Mine were tight at first the loosened up nicely. Did you pin the control arms on the suspension. Worth doing. take a link out and adjust until tracks are just touching the second road wheel.

I'm leaving it at 94 link and will adjust the idler.

93 would be better.

I mean the suspension arms to the torsion bars and to the axles. Put a pin through each to stop them working loose otherwise the will be mobbly.

Hello Ray,

John means this, in the picture you can see that the suspension arms on both ends
have a pin. I also used loctite nr 2701 strong ( green collor )

G'day Guys. Thanks Yves. No I didn't. There weren't any pre-drilled holes so it didn't get done. If I had've known about it I would've drilled holes. I did loctite them.

No Ray, the holes are not pre-drilled from the kit, thats a modefiction that most of the customers do by there self.

Hello Lads
Do the suspension arms 'need' this modification? Looking at it the weight of the tank would act to keep them tight, along with high strength loctite. Has anyone not doing this mod had any problems? Sorry for throwing the spanner, just want to know if it is really required.

Hi guys

This is a question that has been raised before. The Panzer III needs the arms pinning on to the shafts. All of the other models do not need the arms pinning to the shafts. It does no harm to pin them, but it is not necessary.
