Anyone use a tamiya dmd unit in their tank?

Michael,

I've put the link to Thomas's site below. I suggest you e-mail him and tell him what you want the amplifier for and tell him that the input will be the output from the Tamiya sound system. He will then supply you with the correct amplifier. All you then do is connect the Tamiya speaker wire to the amplifier input. The amplifier then has two output wires to connect to the speakers. If you want two speakers then connect them in parallel, but use 8 ohm speakers.

Or you could go to Maplins and buy one of the many amps they have to do the job I use the the little 7amp kit for £7.95 which does the job :wink:

There are several tank owners that have fitted the tamiya sound system in thier tanks , the following link shows the wiring diagram ( scroll to the bottom of the page )

The only drawback as i can see is that it only provides for one stick for forward and reverse, and the other stick for steering. Personally i like twinstick control.

Dave,

You can still set the tank up to drive with two sticks set as fwd and rev as the Tamiya DMD is not used to work the motors, just provide the sound.

The Maplins amplifier part No is :- VM114. Its a 7W audio amplifier module
It comes prepacked, probably find it opposite the model helicopters :P
