Option pack questions

Post by Tim Bowman »

Hi all I'm in need of some help.

I installed the option packs 1 and 2 in my Panther and for the most part, all has been straight forward and working well. However, I am having a few new problems after a few dissassemblies and reasseblies of the components. :?

First one is that my gun elevation stopped working. Motor works fine when switched with turret traverse controller and the gun elevation controller makes its "click" sound when stick is moved for up or down. But it's no go. Any thoughts? One of the wires from the receiver to the controller was out and I put it back in but still nothing.

My second problem is the smoke generator fan/speed controller. It works but the motor needs to be at about 80-90% speed to get the fan to kick on. Is this normal? Smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes seems to be either on or off. It'd be great to get more smoke at a lower speed. Is this possible? Is the fan supposed to operate at varying speeds?

Thanks so much

Tim

Hi Tim

Does your elevation motor run in either direction :?: If it only runs one way, then one of your limit microswitches is probably constantly open. If it doesn't run either way, you have probably lost the supply voltage to the elevation controller. (loose wiring or blown fuse  )

Yuor smoker fan is running correctly, it's a24 volt fan. It does run at varing speeds, but it needs almost full throttle to start it. I have tried a 3 fan setup with 1 on all the time, and the other 2 of both speed controllers. I have them stacked on top of each other, which doesn't work very well. What I need is a 3 into 1 funnel on top of the smoke unit :!:

Hope this helps

Mick

Thank you for the reply. No, unfortunately the motor does not run in either direction when used on that controller. The controller just goes "click" when stick is moved up or down. I will check all wire connections once again. It worked both directions for a long time, then only one direction and now none.

As far as the exhaust goes, I like the multiple fan idea!

Thanks again for the help.

Hello Tim

There is a pot in the ESC for the turret rotation. That you turn for speed.Try turning it.

Thank you Lee

I'm assuming the elevation box has the same pot? I'll give it a look.

All I have touched so far on these is the wire input connections as I have had two wires pull out while moving things around. I will check these all again.
