Re: Advice please 🙏
Clive, the linear bearing will probably damage the softer aluminum barrel, unless your going to rework the barrel.
You may find it works for a while, but the hardened ball bearings will cut groves into the barrel. If you were to machine the barrel and fit a steel sleeve you might find it lasts longer. Linear bearings are usually used on hardened shafts.
I've used sticky red grease which seems to serve the purpose, repositioning the servo improves the line of operation too, see my recent post.
Just a thought.

Re: Advice please 🙏
Following reading John's post about improving the barrel movement. I've carried out a non scientific experiment. To find the amount of weight for balance. I've never understood physics and maths very well but it worked.
Now to find a suitable piece of lead

Don't forget wind resistance
And gold bars size wise are heavier than lead.

I haven't seen a basic build of the top end of the engine, but you won't go wrong looking at Phil Woodard's Chieftain build from around page 70.

Re: Advice please 🙏
I have spent the week on and off removing the hinges from all the bins. Replacing with piano hinge.
Also fitted dummy hasp and staples with padlocks. Unfortunately I couldn't get the ones that you were lucky to get however please with the effect and there are going to be a lot of compromises on this build thanks for all the help so far .

Re: Advice please 🙏
I shouldn't worry too much about opening and closing the bins with piano hinges, Each time I open mine the paint chips on the hinge and I haven't been able stop it, so they'll rarely get opened from now on.
The piano hinge always looks good though.

Re: Advice please 🙏
I Am now happy with balancing the gun and removing any free play. I have shimmed the breach to take out the side to side movement it cannot be seen in the photographs sorry Added an additional support to the Electric elevation Motor I didn't like it being held on one side everything else has been adjusted. I'm considering moving the recoil to pull from the centre however it hasn't been tried yet so more on that later.
