331 gets a makeover

Some of you may be interested in this makeover, well I will try to make it interesting.
It will be for sale at some point.

A pair of Liams superb idlers, new track pin washers and split pins, not my favourite job but it has to be done.

The silver rim has been turned to replicate road wheel rubbing, which happened a lot .

Note the old batteries used to block the hull, you can safely run the tank flat out if you require, you can of course use a secondary lift but I'm happy using the old batteries

I thought I'd have a quick look at the final drive to check the "witness marks" to make sure all is well.

The sprockets are the one piece examples and pop off the without any drama ( I machined these to accept taper lock), she's had around 10 hrs run time with a nice amount of the environment build up, which I don't want to remove.

The hull inner face that the driven gear could rub against is like new. There's no lateral wandering of the gear what so ever.

There's probably 1 mm of clearance between the faces which the grease fills nicely

Before reassembly I shall pack with fresh grease. No gasket is required, just a light smear of grease will suffice.

That's for the first time i see a blank fire mounted like this.

Mine are with the blanks facing the barrel.

Yes this one has more clearance below for the batteries. You also get a slightly bigger bang as the gases are more direct.
