Hi Gary

I think I am going to add one water jerrycan to my Tiger.
As I do not want to reinvent the wheel do you remember what size (thickness and width) brass strip did you use for your jerrycan holders?

Hi Vince
Sorry, I have only just seen your request, I have been distracted by the new Guide dog puppy and digging another wildlife pond. Here is a photo of the brass strip I used. Hope this info isn't too late.

Good morning all

After a break from tank building while I completed my pond and a hectic few weeks with the guide dog puppy, I have managed to get the new batteries installed in the Tiger.
They are Power brick LiFePO4'S and can withstand a high maximum current draw for a decent amount of time. They do not come cheap, but hopefully will provide a longer running time and more useable power. They are from a French company but there is one outlet over here that supplies them.
One thing that surprised me was the weight, two of the new batteries weigh less than one of the old Gel ones. I will do a trial run over the next few days and give the results on the build.

Regards
Gary

What charger set up are you using Gary?

Not considered the batteries/charger for the Panther yet so was wondering.

Hi Malcolm

At the moment I am using a NOCO genius 2x2 dual charger with each battery having a XT60 connector directly connected to the +ve and -ve terminal.
As the charger has two outputs which are completely electrically isolated from each other it is possible to charge both batteries at the same time.
I charged the batteries yesterday and the charger worked fine. I use this for overnight charging. I will probably use my CTEK 5A charger for quick charges but need to get another one so both batteries can charge together, again the CTEK chargers are electrically isolated so ok to use one per battery.
The XT60 is overkill but I was considering having a spare battery set to connect externally but it proved trickier than expected. I will change the XT60's for XT30's when I do the Churchill charging wiring.
I hope this helps.

Regards
Gary

Hi all

Sorry for the delay in giving an update on the batteries, I was tied up getting the Churchill roadworthy for the fete. I took both to Ruishton fete and despite the wet weather the Tiger performed very well, the batteries have made a difference and at the end of the fete it still had plenty of power to climb the ramp.
Turning on the wet grass would have put quite a load on the batteries but there was not a hint of a problem. I am now thinking about getting a pair for the Churchill, the PowerBrick+ batteries are expensive compared to the Gel ones, but then I just think about how much I spend on adding detailing and it seems reasonable.
In case you want some details:
Lithium-Ion Battery 12V – 20Ah – 256Wh PowerBrick+
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4 – LFP)
Instant peak discharge current : 180A ±30A (max 100mS)
Continuous discharge current : 40A (512W)
Peak discharge current (< 30s) : 60A (768W)

Regards
Gary
