A question for anyone who knows or has built an Armortek Bailey, what is the actual length of the two panel bridge with and without ramps. I thought the actual Bailey panels were ten feet, so I'm thinking twenty inches for each panel if in scale. Am I thinking correctly? Just trying to calculate how many panels I need for a backyard layout.

When I had some wooden curbs cut they were 50cm long.

As Armortek said they would not be shipping wood oversea, I offer the following to those in need of planking.

Ship modeling wood companies. In the USA there are several that cut wood for ship builders, at least three that I can think of.

Way down under, I can only think of one at this time.

They are there and on something like this I'm sure they would be happy to cut some up for you.

Myself If I bought a Bailey, I have been Blessed with a Great Wife that allows me to buy tools. Of course, She wants the house worked on, fair enough trade, I think. So, I have enough Oak or ?? to cut up using my own tools.

Looks like about 1 and 1/2 inches by 27 inches by (guessing here) 5/8inches?
Someone want to give detailed measurements, Please chime on in. Also, about how much grooving is needed and how many??

The wooden planks (chess) are 26.75 inches (679.5mm) long, 1.5 inches (37.2mm) wide and roughly 11/32 inches (8.5mm) deep.

There is a cut out on either side of each end 5/8 inch (16mm) long and roughly 5/32 inches (4.5mm) wide.

From pictures in the manual there are 13 planks on each of the decks and ramps, so you would need 52 for a 2 section bridge with ramps.

I believe the original kit ones were made from Sapele.

"Sapele" wood had to look that one up.

"It’s actually harder than Mahogany as well as more stable and dense than the higher priced species. Since the Sapele tree is large, it yields boards of a variety of thicknesses, as well." what popped up from bing.

Should be easy enough to obtain the wood.

We are pleased to say that tomorrow (12th June) we will start shipping the Bailey bridges.
We are starting with all the standard orders first - all the orders for extra parts will take more time as they all need to be individually reviewed.

There have been a few cancellations along the way, so by the time we are done packing we will probably have a few left over in stock.

Also states that they did use Sapele but the material can be any suitable timber and confirms 13 pieces per span or ramp.

Also says that Sapele is only moderatly weatherproof and recommends it to be treated if to be used out in the wet.
I would be interested to hear what present owners have done and have had success with.
I believe an oil which soaks in to the wood, reapplied at suitable intervals, would be preferable to a surface finish like a varnish.
