Getting Ready for the build

Post by Dave Goodwin »

While I wait for delivery to progress, I'm looking into gathering necessary tools and such. I have most of what I will need, but I will be purchasing a lift table and a small, screw-type motorcycle jack.

Could someone with a built Tiger do me a favor and measure the approximate clearance while the tank is sitting on its tracks? I need to workout how the jack will fit and how tall the track risers will have to be when I build the platform for the top of the lift table. I think any level of Tiger will likely do for a ballpark estimate.

On a related note, what are people's favorite reference books and such? Figured I should ask before just blindly buying things :-)

Thanks!
Dave

Clearance is about 2 5/8"

2 of the best books (if you can find them) are - Modeler's guide to the Tiger Tank and Achtung Panzer No.6.

Hey Dave, I picked up a copy of Achtung Panzer #6 on Amazon about 2 months ago for $30, the other book is last I checked around $300 for a used copy. Great book but on the high side.
