For soon-to-be-released Leopard 2A4 , I am searching for the 1/6 MG3 GPMG.
MG42 looks similar and easier to find, but we all know the difference between it and MG3.
Does any person know where I can find one? Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Lerh Chang

MG 42 is easy to find.
I'd chop the tip off and just machine up a new bushing, etc. Going to be much easier to just modify an MG42 from Dragon or similar to fit the role.
Can't wait to see your build!
Cheers,
RPR

Re: Wanted : 1/6 German GPMG MG3
Not buying a Leo, if a Challenger 1 or 2 had been offered, I would have been raiding the piggy bank.
However in your situation and no MG3 being available, I would just fit a MG42, how many people would notice the difference ?
If someone does and mentions it to you politely then you explain why. If they criticise your model, you tell them to eff off and come back when they have one.

Replacing that front part (3D print?) is prolly the easiest way because the rest is pretty much spot on. Just use different colors to paint it. And a different ammo box.

You could claim it's a re-chambered MG42 termed an MG2. It would appear pretty identical to an original MG42 on the outside.
If someone claims the MG2 haven't been issued since the late 1950s claim it was a NOS supply recently discovered in a sub basement of Rheinmetal and
as a matter of economics it was decided to put them in service...
Who knows? Stranger things have happened...

I've got a battlfield recovered mg42 and a real mg53/mg3 and going off you comparison picture the only real difference is the flash hider......not the case, the flash hider is exactly the same on both my guns.

Re: Wanted : 1/6 German GPMG MG3
If you refer to the Yugoslavian M53 that's logical, that's a copy of the wartime German MG42. I own one too (deco), simply because it is more affordable than a MG42.Glen Clark wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 6:40 pmI've got a battlfield recovered mg42 and a real mg53/mg3 and going off you comparison picture the only real difference is the flash hider......not the case, the flash hider is exactly the same on both my guns.

The MG3 differs.

The MG42 and M53 share the same oldskool calibre bullet, the old mighty 7.92×57mm.
The modern MG3 has the .308 aka 7,62x51mm.
