Another newbie and another Panther G on its way.

Post by Malcolm.Plumb »

Hi all

My name's Malcolm and I live in Evesham in Worcestershire, UK.

I'm totally new to 1/6th scale armor but I've finally bitten the bullet and have a Panther G kit on the way.

I've been modeler for many years including being into RC cars, planes and for about 15years, RC aerobatic helicopters.

The whole fleet of seven helicopters has now been sold but I have hung on to my two transmitters for now.

For the last 4 years I've returned to scale modelling, primarily sports cars in 12th, 20th and 24th scale and motor cycles as well.
A nice 1/12 scale super detailed Ferrari Enzo and 1/20 scale Model Factory Hiro Brabham BT46B being my favorites.

This last year I've been 1/35 scale figure painting only. To broaden my modelling skills further.
I do seem to have built up quite a nice stash of 1/35 armor kits though with a Tamiya RC Tiger 1 and King Tiger also being acquired.

My Panther G is hopefully going to be delivered tomorrow but I have already started preparing additional work space in my garage and seeing what I need to build her.

I'm very much looking forward to this project for something very different.

I will have another trawl through some on the awesome builds on the forum for ideas but I expect that I will have many questions to ask.

Hope that is not a problem.

Thanks for now.

Hi Malcolm.

I already know what you are going to say when you open the four boxes.

OMG, it's HUGE!

Enjoy and hopefully see some of your build progress here.

So it looks like Panther G no. 15 has made it's way here today.

Just had time to remove all the packing peanuts from box one and pull out the bag with the instructions and certificate.
Very nice indeed 8)

Before I start I have a few modifications to make to my work space and setup including putting in an extra work bench, getting a lift platform and some extra tools.

Also have had a reference book arrive today to have a look through for inspiration.

Hi, see if you can get hold of a copy of The Panther, Uwe Feist & Bruce Culver by Ryton Publications, its the best source of information that I've ever found.

Thanks John, another one to look out for.

I do also have another book on its way for reference.

The 116 Panzer Division's Panther Battalion, the I. Pz-Rgt. 24 during the battle of Normandy by Lodieu, Didier.

Hopefully this will also be of some use.

Hi Malcolm

Welcome to the world of 1/6th scale. I was a newbie this time last year when I bought a Late Tiger 1 which is almost finished. I hope you have many enjoyable hours building your Panther and look forward to following your build. It is certainly addictive as I found out at the open day when I left with a Churchill Mk3 :D
