Hello Folks
this issue should only be for the new release motion pack/Tiger 1 2021 builds as it would appear that the drive section has been simplified
originally this section was to show how i assembled my drive shafts while still retaining the bearings and housing without it all getting messed up and causing the gear section to rub on the outer hull
well while concentrating on trying to prevent hull rub,i took my off the ball and missed this AFTER gluing the driveshaft in!
at first i wondered why the drive casing was not fitting fully flush with the hull, after installing the drive motor,as you can see the drive pinion is rubbing on the top section of the inner casing
this is not really an issue for me,IF i hadn't glued one of the drive shafts in place,as i have a milling machine to skim a tiny portion away to get a nice fit
but i have loctite the drive shaft into the bearings, and the housing, and as i upgraded the stock bearings to high quality bearings i don't want to destroy them by applying heat
so the options i have are:shim up the motor
:file or grind the motor shaft and pinion
:mill what i can and hope the rest rubs off while running in,strip down and clean after a run in
:order replacement parts from armortek
:heat the part up,bin the bearings, mill the inner casing and start again
or open to suggestions,i am sure someone will have ran into this before, god help anyone if they don't have a milling machine to hand as i dont think hand sanding this is an option, but it does mention to check the fit on the instructions
Donald

Another option to add to your list is to make a slightly thicker drive motor adaptor.

Or just use washers on the motor mounting bolts between the mounts and the gearboxes.
I had to do that with the Centurion AVRE due to the non-stock fasteners used when the hull was built.
The M3 Lee/Grant motion pack came with a spacer (CP0326) so it might be worth contacting Armortek and asking if this would fit the Tiger.
Adrian.

Make a gasket of thin copper (or metal of your choice) to shim the final drive housing up enough to get the drive motor pinion gear to not rub on the housing. Of course this might throw your spacing off a bit but better than have the motor drive gear grinding away...

Do the pinion: Mill, turn or grind, whatever suits your tools, but remove it from the gearbox first. You really, really don't want debris into the motor. Remember, there is a big magnet there!
This way, you can easily remove and remount your motors without hassle when needed.

A little too much is about right...

Hi
Many thanks for the helpful reply's,i decided to opt for milling a slight skim of where the pinion was scraping
i rebuilt the casing and reinstalled the motor and it no longer touches the casing,i also gave the pinion a slight rub with a file just to flatten it off too
so all would appear to be fine now
i got an e mail from Kian who said just to add washers to the motor mount/gearbox,and this i would have done if the milling hadn't worked out
thanks for all the suggestions

Wondering if this was an isolated incident or if all kits will need an update.

Gentlemen.
I have the same issue on my 2021 model. Its an easy fix, as mention in previous posts, but could easily be missed during a build.
Thanks to Donald for pointing this out
