Where in the UK can one get decent quantities of suitable paint for spraying a camaflague scheme for a P4. I don,t want to buy loads of spray cans as I have a paint sprayer. I have searched the net and could only find
"paint kits" for painting smaller tanks. I belive acrylic paint is recommended
would B & Q either striaght from their colour charts or some kind of mix be suitable. The last time I sprayed it was gloss on a 1.5" to the foot traction engine with paint from Phoenix Precision Paints but they have not answered my email.

dear graham
i spent 10 years spraypainting cars,go to an automotive paint supplier, use etch primer and cellelouse paint matt finnish ,pick any color from thousands of color charts, buy 1ltr of the color you choose plus 5ltrs of standard thinners, mix 50/50. the shades and tints are endless your spoilt for choice.i only use cellelouse ,its easy to work you can repair areas with no paint reaction.acrylic,2 pack, synthetic paints are a pain.always apply paints slowly, not to wet ,i have tried allsorts of paint schemes but always use this method, flexible simple.

Hi Graham
Simon is spot on car paint is the way to go after etch primer.
There are other posts I have made under panther on the paint supplier I used and others from other people just use the serch function at the top
search whole forum... paint should get you what you need.
hope this helps

A bit more info
The aluminium/brass was primed with Blackfryers galvanised primer, the steel with Rustins red oxide all by brush. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are only in Blackfryers as I had not put the steel primer on yet. The first and last pictures are air brush sprayed with Humbrol matt 90.

No particular theatre, just enjoyed making the tank from scratch.
Dale
I was thinking (bad for me) what about a thin coat of clear varnish or do I have to spray another coat of Humbrol 93 mixed with a similar colour gloss?

Graham how far have you gone . Have you only painted the turret or the whole tank . If the 93 was not put on to thick .. I would mix up a new batch with about 5 % HUMBROL gloss mixed into the paint thinned with about 20% turps , do a test spray first... Remember this is the base coat .... Any como on the the top of this , will be sprayed on very very lightly like Tim is doing on his Panther .. You need the base coat to have a slight sheen , not to glossie once again look at the sheen on Tims Panther .. Dale
