Another Tiger

Post by Brian Ostlind »

The collection shrank to almost zero. My shed was lonely and the yard was missing something…a Tiger. Order placed for the new Tiger 1. No plans for anything special just a standard out of the box late model Tiger Tank build. My favorite model and the one that started it all. Remember dreaming about having one when I was a teenager and I don’t think I can live without one now.

Love your unboxing videos.
Two piece barrel. That was a surprise. It does look a bit short unless there's a third piece somewhere else.

One very important step Brian. I must say I was kind of surprised to see a bearing surface cut so ruff when i did mine. I don't mind fettling with parts and certainly dont expect every part to be perfect (that would make it a boring kit :) but I feel Armortek could have given these axles a better run in the lathe. Some of mine was more like a round file. And yes, I love my little Myford lathe :D

So far I have sanded all the steel axles and found that the suspension bars need some milling. I’ll locate my dremel or another rotary tool and widen the holes in the suspension bars to make suspension fit without binding.

Next I’ll glue the brass bushings in the suspension bars.

I found the right tap to thread the suspension arms but it is difficult so I need a vice to hold the arms tight while I chase the threads.

Once is all ready I can start assembly of the hull and make a new video.

Thanks for the interest.

As it's an open hole, a first/taper tap would pick up the threads easily and still have enough cutting length to clean up the threads.
