TANKFEST 2021

Post by Stephen White »

After two years absence, TankFest 2021 is nearly here. We've still got a couple of places available for Sat, Sun, Mon, if anyone who hasn't already booked would like to attend. Those who've contacted Armortek should already have your car passes which you'll need on arrival.

Identification: I'll collet the wristbands on Thursday and will have them available on the stand.

Arrival: for the duration of the event, the usual entrance route (Linsay Road) will be closed. There will be two way traffic via the usual exit onto Bovington Lane, by the Tamiya Hall.

Thursday 16th. Open between 0930-1600

Enter via the usual route, Linsay Road, report to Gate Six and you'll be shown to the stand. The usual one-way system will be in operation.

Friday 17th to Monday 21st. Open between 0700-0800 and 1800-1930

Enter via Bovington Lane. Report to Gate 8, show your car pass and you'll be directed to Gate 6 and thence to the stand.

Covid Security

The Tank Museum are running TankFest as a Covid secure event, limiting attendance on all four days and putting in place a number of measures. These include:

You will be asked to sign an event COVID-19 declaration (confirming you are not showing symptoms, have tested positive and/or are waiting on a PCR test following being asked by the NHS to take one and/or have been asked to self-isolate).
- We will politely ask that all contractors and traders show proof of a negative lateral flow test that has been taken within 36 hours of arriving to site.
- We will heavily encourage mask wearing across site during the set up, live days and take down, particularly indoors or in congested areas (including within trade stalls). All Tank Museum staff will be wearing face coverings at all times and we hope that by doing this it will minimise risk for all involved.
- Ticket holders will also be heavily encouraged to wear masks.
- Should at any point during the event you or a member of your team feel you are showing symptoms of COVID-19 and think you are at risk, please close your trade/exhibiting stand immediately and call Event Control discretely on 01929 463107 for guidance. Please do not interact with any staff or customers in order to avoid any potential spread of the virus.

Looking forward to a great return to much missed TankFest. If there are any last minute takers, please email or message me via Armortek.

Best regards

Stephen

Suggest we treat it as a matter for our own conscience.

As well as an LFT and a mask , don't forget to bring your valid insurance certificate. We need to be 'loaded for bear', and comply cheerfully  with all Bovvy's requirements. That way we should get much better treatment in future years (hopefully).

All the best,

Chris

A quick question, what is the mechanism there for collecting Vehicle Passes and Wristbands when arriving in the morning, such as Friday? I am not there today! Steve

Steve, as above, I'll have your wristband at the stand. All you need to get in is your car pass, which I can email to you if you don't have one. Do follow the routes though, as it's different to last time.

See you tomorrow.

All set up and ready to go. I've managed to negotiate a larger running area and one or two more passes so if anyone fancies it but hasn't so far booked, do please let us know via PM or email to Monique. Time to enjoy. All the best. Stephen

I wish everyone a nice TANKFEST!!!
Unfortunately the way is too far for me.
If there should be a Maybach HL120 engine in the museum, I would be very happy about pictures of nameplates etc. Maybe someone will also look at the real StuG and Panzer III / IV. :D
Thank you in advance.
Greetings from Germany
Michael

TankFest 2021 exceded expectations. A lot of miles were put in by some to get there and the weather and running area didn't disappoint. We had a good turnout for Friday and Sat. After all the supposed restrictions on space, in the end, we were able to expand the running area as far as we needed and on the Saturday, the Museum staff created another dedicated area for us. Between the two arena shows, Armortek tanks formed a crocodile and drove around the food area and put on a display in our additional enclosure. Covid dictated a four day show, which was not sustainable for us. It was a shame that in the end the more dispersed site and fewer tickets actually made the show much more pleasant. The usual scrum on arrival and the race to depart were much more relaxed.

For 2022, we've said we would like to return to our old large grass running area. If the Museum can combine the good points of this year's show with some of the old flair, it'll be a highlight of the year.

It was a hot day and some had driven through the early hours to get to Bovington.
