Unable to get recoil servo, elevation motor & LED's working

Post by Andy Walker »

I have got pretty much everything working on my Tiger 131 including sound, but cannot get the gun elevation, recoil servo or gun flash LED's to work. Gun elevation motor is connected via the loom to the 'switched 1' terminal on the motion pack, and working off the Throttle stick on TX. Throttle on Rx is connected to the 1st Rx input terminal on motion pack. I've tested that the motor works and the rx throttle output works, so as far as I can tell there is no output from the (switched 1) terminal.
As for the recoil/flash I have no idea what is happening.
Any ideas welcome.

Hi Andy

I also encountered this problem at one time on my Tiger 1. If you think about it, the recoil, elevation and LEDs are all the electrics which are located in the turret. On my Tiger 1, the recoil, elevation and LEDs are connected to the turret sub loom which is connected to the main loom via a multi pin connector.

In my case the problem was with the connector. I did not push enough the female connector into the male connector. Pushed it until it clicked and solved the problem. Your wiring configuration could be different than mine.

Hope it helps.

Vince

I've found part of the problem. The multi pin connector that connects the 2 parts of the turret wiring loom were wrongly manufactured! This connector can only go together one way due to locating lugs. I obviously connected it this way assuming it would be okay. It turns out the wires coming into each side of the connector don't match.....each side is turned 180 degrees in relation to the other. So red doesn't go to red, blue to blue etc. Taking the connector apart was a nightmare it was so tight. Each set of wires enters a plastic end cap which is clipped into one the end of the connector, so one of these sets was incorrectly orientated when clipped in during manufacture. These can't be removed so I had to shave the locating lugs off the connector plug so that I could connect the 2 parts correctly. When I powered up the electronics I eventually discovered the 5amp fuse had blown in the Motion pack. I replaced this. Now the elevation motor works. However. I still cant get the recoil servo or LED's to work. The Main gun sound operates fine but nothing happens. Is it possible as well as the 5amp fuse blowing that damage was caused elsewhere? Any other ideas welcome

The gun flash Led's and recoil servo have now started working for some obscure reason, however they are only working when I operate the Machine gun sound which is four clicks of the Rx toggle switch ( they constantly flash and the servo moves constantly while toggle swith is held ). Three clicks gets the main gun sound only. Any Ideas
