Difficulties with motion pack A

I'm carrying this over from the discussion on OpenTx systems as it no longer is relevant to that topic.

To recap: I'd begun bench testing my electricals using the Taranis X9D with X8R receiver. I'd had issues with one
main drive motor having no neutral. I next tested the system using a old Spektrum DX6 with 610 receiver. Same
result.

So lastly I removed all other modules and simply tested motion pack A and the power module. Same result- one motor
refuses to stop at neutral. There are no mixes defined on this radio it's purely plugging the modules in and trying basic function.
Batteries are all fully charged, connections appear sound and the received is new- never had been bound before.

I'm not usually one to wave my hand for help ( doesn't come easy!) but not wanting to swim against the stream this time I'm
open to suggestions. I made a brief video of this last test so that what was done may be readily seen...

When the Spektrum receiver was bound to the transmitter the sticks were all set to center. When I was using the Taranis and X8R
I explicitly defined all the fail safe positions for all channels as 0. I hope that would cover both scenarios.

Also in the video above (as in all my tests) the transmitter was powered up first. I know there can be a momentary delay before the receiver
recognizes the transmitter signal when controls might twitch but they should quickly assume their proper position. In view of
the sequence in the testing I don't believe the fail safe positions come into play; at least not very long.

I had a similar problem last year trying to setup 2 Viper speed controllers with a pair of 540 motors.
For some reason i could not get them to both sit at neutral.
They were the Auto setup type and both worked perfectly on their own but refused to work correctly as a pair.

I gave up in the end after spending several evenings pulling my hair out.
Back to the drawing board when i revisit that project.

Yes for the purposes of that test, yes I ws indeed plugged into Aileron and Elevator, intentionally as I wanted
both controls on a self-centering stick ( recall Mode 2 xmitter). The result was the same using left stick rudder
and right stick aileron - the same motor refused to stop without trim adjustment while the other responded normally.

I even went so far as removing one of the two inputs' positive lead temporarily (from the 'Y') to ensure I wasn't experiencing some
odd feedback - same result - one motor behaved normally and the truant motor just motored on when I said stop...

So I've expended all the tests my weak brain will come up with...

How long have you had the motion packs ?
I seem to recall reading on the forum that early ones provided the receiver from muliple sources with 5 Volts ( both motion pack A & motion pack B ) which then caused problems.
Does the problem still exist if you disconnect all other connections to the receiver apart from those needed for the two drive motors ?

may i suggest that you swap the blue & yellow leads on the motor that drives constantly. i had it happen once ànd fixed it doing that. electronics, go figure.

Jerry,
Have you tried swapping the plugs for the Main Drive Motor 1 and Main Drive Motor 2?
It probably won't correct the problem, but if the problem persists on a different motor; you will know it's not an issue with a motor.
If the problem persists with the same motor; it's a motor problem.
