Can anyone help me please?
I have setup my KT electrics and have a problem with my sound unit. I have followed all the instructions published by Armortek, Armortek Forum, and Futaba repeatedly, without success.
Can anyone see a problem with what I have done so far?
My TX is a Futaba 8J combined with a Futaba RX R2008SB running using FHSS.
All the proportional channels work perfectly from word go, with no problem. Single stick motion using Flaperon and turret motion using Throttle and Rudder. As previously mentioned, everything works.
Now I come to setting up the sound system. All the cables are all correctly connected, re-wired everything at least 3 times just to be sure. I have followed the Armortek wiring diagram to the letter.
I have programmed CH5 to 3-way switch SWC and CH6 to 3-way switch SWE and checked and tested both the servo functions for both switches. Again, everything seems to be in order.
I have then tried multiple times to teach the sound unit as instructed, using both CH5 and CH6 without success. I get the beep from the unit on power-up and the beep when hitting the program button. The volume is set to about 1/4 and the beeps are quite loud. Following the instructions, I then activate a slight forward motion to both motors and toggle the switch from mid-point to up or towards me, for the transition to acceleration, depending on which switch I try to use, then back again. I have used a snap action and a delayed action when toggling, without success. It goes without saying that the second setting doesn’t work either.
After attempting the programming all I get from the speakers is a background hiss that is not very loud. If I turn up the volume then one speaker cone is drawn tight into its frame, and the other is pushed tight out of its frame with very little increase actual noise from the speakers.

May be a dumb question but have you tried going the other way with the switch ?
I can't recall if the Sound Board is that fussy but sounds like the only thing you haven't tried.
Also check that the servo works on the end of the cables going to RC inputs 1 and 2, as the Sound Board wont do anything it it can't see pulses on RC Input 1.
Adrian.

Hi Phillip,
Can you please post a link to the the thread you used for setting up the sounds ?
The thread I used from this forum worked first time for me, and also first time on Dad´s Rolls Royce.
Maybe the colours on the receiver connection are wrong and you need to reverse it ?

Re: King Tiger 2019-34 Sound System Setup Problem
Hi Mark
All the cable and connections are correct and tested. I seem to have a problem programming my TX, as I can’t seem to get a signal on any of the channels 5-8. All the proportional channels work fine, so I can drive the tank and operate the turret and gun elevation.
I used the Armortek setup published on the forum.

King Tiger 2019-34 Sound System Setup Problem
Futaba T8J TX
I can’t seem to program channels 5-8 to give me a signal to trigger the sound system.
All the proportional channels work correctly using ELEVON, so motion and turret functions all work.
I have tried setting up channel 5 with 3-way switch E for the sound system without success. I also tried channels 6-8 as well. No go on any of these channels.
Using a spare servo all I get from channels 5-8 is the servo centring when the power is switched on, and no response when the switch is moved up or down. I have tried switch C as well with the same result.
The built-in SERVO graphic tells me that the switch is functioning along with the proportional channels.
I am new to RC so no doubt I am not doing this correctly, so can anyone shed some light on what I might be doing wrong?

Re: King Tiger 2019-34 Sound System Setup Problem
Hi Phil
I am no expert in these things. In fact my Tiger R/C was my first experience with an R/C system so take what follows with a pinch of salt.
I am using Spectrum and not Futaba but it might give you an idea of what to look for.
If I remember correctly on my Spectrum, I had to activate through the menu the 3 position switch. Also once activated, this switch was showing 100% (one position), 0% (middle position) and again 100% (the other position). I had to change it to:
100%
0%
-100% (note negative sign in front of 100%)
so that the switch worked with the sound module.
Hope it helps and not confuse you more.
Vince

Philip - found this video on youtube. Have a look at the 24 minute mark where it shows you how to assign channels. You should probably assign channel 5 to SWITCH c. From the video it looks like C is a 3 position switch.

Done all of that, and more. Even Futaba don't seem to be bothered in replying to my online request for help.

Re: King Tiger 2019-34 Sound System Setup Problem
SORTED! At last things are on the move again. I am surprised that no one spotted my deliberate mistake in my setup!
The TX needs to be S-FHSS to activate channels 5-8, and not FHSS.
What I am really disappointed about is Futaba not pointing this error out after almost a week after submitting an online message requesting help.
Anyway, everything is up and running with full sound, yippee.
