Finally managed to get the time to post video of the UC running.

Shipping of the motion packs should start early Feb - custom gear boxes arrives, now just waiting on some laser cut motor mounts .....

Totally cool. Wait, is this a limited edition or will it be available later because I need one after I build my German tanks to carry their ammo.

I think you will find they are using brakes on each sprocket as in the real thing as well as warping the track.

Track warping only provides a gentle turn - good for offsetting the camber on roads.
Track braking is what really turns the UC.

Could UCs really turn that sharply?
It looks a bit like some of those Chinese Heng Long 1/16 tanks the way it turns.

I would expect this to be less severe in mud or grass but I think i would be wanting to turn down the rates a bit to make the turns less sharp otherwise the crew would be thrown overboard.

Hi Tim
The way the steering system (track brake) is designed means that it is either braked or not braked with no intermediate settings.
I did consider modifying what was supplied and having a more conventional type brake using friction pads but talking to Kian it appears he has already been there and was not successful with the size of servo,s used.
The daft thing is I thought it would be the track warping that would give problems.
Maybe someone will come up with a more realistic system in the near future, time will tell.

The raw materials are there for the inventive, like Steve say's, time will tell.

It wasn't until I saw the disc's that I understood what the control of the UC in the Armortek clip was all about.

But with a little TLC, I'm sure the UC steering can controlled. It's a small model with what seems to have plenty of torque, so dialing down the enthusiasm may be a appropriate steering technique as with all small tracked models for realism.

I am in the process of setting up the servos for braking operation and I think that when the servos are centered the arm needs to be put on so that the screw is near the end of the raceway so that the brake arm is applied straight away and then adjust the amount of servo travel to match. The reason for this is when I assembled it one side would stop ok but the other side would not.
I also had to enlarge the hole that the drive shaft from the motor goes through as the boss on the diff was rubbing on the metal even though everything was lined up correctly.
