firing unit part question

guys, i have a question as the the parts shown.
as before, I bought this kit privately and all the issues with it.

I have what seems to be two firing unit bodies magazines and firing pin assemblies.
the only difference i see is a length in the main housing, one being longer than the other, would this be the purpose of the spacer?

which is the better one to use.

sorry if the questions are mundane, i am a complete rookie so need all the help I can get..... Psychiatric and modelling.

The one at the front was a later model, which has the rubber sealing ring to prevent flash over.

I vaguely remember there was an issue with the supply of the short blanks for the first version, so the later version was made deeper to accommodate a blank size which was more widely available.

Hi Martin
I don't wish to be rude but as a rookie, please please please read the Armortek instructions. I really enjoyed using my blank firer, it will never sound like an 88 or any other big gun. That privilege will aways be denighed unless your in the forces. or you go somewhere bad.
But the blank firer will give you a lovely pyrotechnic kick.
If the seal gets damaged or fails, the use of black powder 12 bore blanks will cause the tank to become dirty inside, the debris from a black powder blank can be corrosive. I made a hood to cover the firer and reduce smoke leakage. the hood soaking up the gritty bits.
You'll need to clean the firer between re loads and I'd always try to count the blank wadding debrs during cleaning to make sure it was clear, a torch will come in handy to check the bore is clear too
Lubricate the firing pin and other parts of the system regularly and it will serve you well.
The firer won't stay pristine for very long but the thing actually firing is worth the work you have to put into it.
It all sounds like at lot of faffing about, but it's worth it to stay safe.
