New customer and forum member here

Post by Roy Beukeveld »

Hi everyone,

A new customer and forum member here :-)
I’m Roy from The Netherlands and I ordered a StuG III. It’s the first time I will be building a kit like this, but I have been around in (RC-) scale model hobbies for quit some time.
Having a mechanical background I just couldn’t resist to buy me an Armortek model one day so I did:-)

I have seen so many fantastic builds here, I already spent a lot of time browsing through a lot of topics for inspiration and information.

In the meantime I already started on a Commander for the StuG, I uploaded a short video below if you like to see it :-)
Let’s see how it will fit and turn out once the StuG has arrived and is taking shape.

The amount of information here is really great, I hope you all don’t mind me popping up in some forum thread every now and then:-)

Kind regards,
Roy

Welkome Roy to the 1/6 scale tankers!
Lord, give me strength to change the things I am able to change.... and patience to endure the things I can not change :-) A bunch of Tiger and Panther variants, Leo II, Famo, 222s, a few 88`s and smaler ones like Hetzer, Stug III, 251, etc.

Welcome Roy

Also bought a StuG III and look very much forward to build it.

Have you decided if your StuG shall be a 1/6 copy of a true tankkiller - I am reading Anthony Beevers book "Arnhem" at the moment, and he writes about a StuG division stationed in Denmark in 1944, that was rushed to the Arnhem battle scene to oppose the attck by the allied.

Didnt know about this, but being a Dane and in a short while having a StuG :D Well - it will be this version I will build. Still need to find out more about this division, so if anyone knows more please do reach out

cheers

Thanks guys!

Nice to hear you're going to build a StuG as well, I haven't decided yet on which division or particular example the model will be based on.
On the moment I'm doing some reading as well, "Sturmgeschutz, Panzer, Panzerjager, Waffen-SS and Luftwaffe Units 1943-45" from Thomas Anderson, and bought the Haynes manual as well.
Do you know the name of the division you read about? If so i can keep it in mind while reading my book, maybe it gets mentioned.
Kind regards,
Roy

Hi, i’m reading a book on Market Garden and there is also mentioned that a division on their way from Denmark to Aken is rushed to Arnhem to stop the advancing British army.
It was the Stürmgeschütz Brigade 280. Don’t know if you knew that already but thought i’d share it anyway :-)
Kind regards,
Roy
