2001 Tiger suspension help required.

My good Kameraden Guido Felsh from Köln would like some assistance with his 2001 Early Tiger, he would like some help identifying which parts are located in the correct position.
(Guido)
The manual is old and not accurate, or doesn’t contain enough pictures to identify all parts and building steps. The pre-owner has put the parts into different boxes, and mixed them.
I have problems with the suspension and bearing blocks, also with the construction of the wheels and the suspension arms.
The suspension blocks have different mark and are available in different quantities. Some are brass, some are aluminium. I do not know which one comes to left or right, seen from behind of the Tiger.
The suspension arms have also different marks or rings, one ring or two. All I can identify at the moment is, that two 5mm torsion bars go to the front and 2 to the rear. The rest is 4 mm.
Suspension blocks in alloy and brass, notice some of the alloy blocks have a single cut and others double cut;
Different swing arms, notice a slight cut in the first picture;
Hull left side;

Hull right side

Single slot aluminium blocks go at the front and the rear, double slots in the middle:

The actual order of the bars is 5 5 5 4 5 4 4 4 4 4 4 5 4 5 5 5
The two blocks (one of each) with a chamfer go at front, where the hull floor bends.

One ring or two should indicate 4mm or 5mm. Best to try with a 5mm twist drill and see which is which.

Hi Adrian, thank you for helping me.
I will try to check your picture out. In my case, as you can see on the photos Mark sended, I have only 7 blocks in aluminium. So I have to see what is possible. I will try to post a photo, when I arranged the Blocks in the hull.
Greetings Guido

Hi Adrian,
Additional question. What do you mean with: The actual order of the bars is 5 5 5 4 5 4 4 4 4 4 4 5 4 5 5 5
Is this the diameter, 5 or 4 mm? If so, why dont put 5555444444445555, would sound more logic to me? So, the first two wheels on each side and in the back would have 5 mm suspension. Can you please exlain this for me? Thanks.
Greetings Guido

Hi Adrian, think I understand what you mean. You just count from back to front not regarding the sides. So we both mean the same, I guess ?

Yes, that's correct.
The order goes 55545 because of the relative positions of the suspension arms. The wheels are staggered from one side to the other so that the torsion bars do not clash.
Do you have the Mid Tiger (2003) or the Early Tiger (2005), which has the drum cupula ?
The Mid came with all brass blocks, the Early had a mixture of brass and aluminum.

Hi Adrian,
I have the early version from 2005.
At the moment i try to make the torsion bars fit into the blocks. They all dont fit quite well. I will send a foto, when i have them all in the hull. Then next difficulty will be the wheels. Thery is much space in it, what I could see so far...
Greetings Guido

If they have them, another possibility is to ditch the blocks and the steel floor and get the current spec suspension bars and floor from Armortek.
The bars are part number CE2172, the busings are CP0223 and the floor is CE2153. They should be the correct size, though you might have to fill or open up some holes.

Ready with the blocks. What do you think, does it look correct?

Guido, don't forget it is essential that you grind flats on the torsion bars, even with bolts the torsion bars will rotate.
Sie müssen eine Fläche auf dem Drehstab schleifen, sonst dreht sich der Drehstab sogar mit Schrauben.

There should be enough metal in the "fixed end" blocks to be able to convert it to use the same adjustable system as used now.
That way you can set the angle with the fixing bolts, rather than the flats on the torsion bars. Plus it can be adjusted when the bars have settled.
