Early Tiger 1 Steel Track Links and Pins
Due to Phil’s most excellent representation of my steel track links I have renewed interest and will be placing an order for more sets, and at the current exchange rate a set will be around £780 if anyone is interested please PM for a firm price.
I borrowed your photo Phil, hope you don’t mind, (it’s such a nice shot)
Thanks
Liam

Re: Early Tiger 1 Steel Track Links and Pins
The price of the steel tracks is excellent value guys and you are not going to wear those out, if you want realism then go for it, I know the boss is interested in a set for his Tiger but he really wants cleats if you want any advice on how to get them to look like mine just ask on here and I will explain in more detail, I don't want to have to answer 30 emails
Regarding the ali sprocket to steel wear factor, think of a bearing surface in a machine ( cam shafts for one) that uses a hard material against a soft one, you get more wear with steel on steel than ali on steel. Over to Liam to say if the sprockets need any alterations, remember Liam is an engineer in his own right!

Re: Early Tiger 1 Steel Track Links and Pins
Thank you Phil
Hi Steen, yes it has been some time.
Yes the links have been designed to fit directly onto your existing drive and road wheels, as for the wear on an all aluminium system I don’t have any feedback but as Phil has stated normally when you have a hard rubbing against a soft usually the soft wins. I have run up over 100 hours with these tracks and have the standard return roller (steel drive rings), as long as you have your road wheels, drive and return aligned correctly there should be no issues, you will find that you can run these tracks very loose as the weight helps align the track on the return as it sits heavier on the road wheels and feeds the drive sprocket straight.
I can provide steel drive sprockets rings if you have the bolt on rings, and I am testing steel return rollers, (metal 3d printed aiming for around £96 including cap but still a work in progress).
I forgot to mention a set is 220 links, pins and clips 28kg.
I will email you the freight price.
Thank you
Liam

Re: Early Tiger 1 Steel Track Links and Pins
I have had some interest in the return idlers and about to start a printing run, unfortunately they have ended up a bit more expensive than I was aiming for, £145 each including the hub cap, bolts and gasket, plus fees and freight.
Thanks
Liam

Re: Early Tiger 1 Steel Track Links and Pins
It seems that I have been asking too much of my metal printer, and he has informed me that he can NO longer provide parts at “mates rates” and that I will have to pay a more appropriate price, so unfortunately all my metal printer parts will be going up, the return idlers will now be £235 each including the hub cap, bolts and gasket. All current orders will be honoured at the agreed price.

Liam,
I saw this earlier post and am curious to know whether you still offer steal tracks for the Tiger 1?
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Early Tiger 1 Steel Track Links and Pins
A tidy up of my workshop revealed that I have 130 track links with matching pin and clips. I don’t envisage that I will be ordering these again, unless I get orders for 10 plus sets, and figured that they would be ideal for anyone who could make use of them as detail on their tank, so I am offering them as a single link with pin and clips.
These links, pins and clips have not been finished or assembled so am offering two options:
Option 1 – No finishing, as is as cast. The pin should fit but may be tight and may need hammering or drilling. AU$7.80 per link, pin and 2 clips (approx €5.25), plus freight and fees.
Option 2 – The links will be reamed so the pins slide through but some might be a little tight. AU$9.50 per link, pin and 2 clips (approx €6.40) plus freight and fees. I can straighten them at additional cost.
For further information please PM me.

Re: Early Tiger 1 Steel Track Links and Pins
That's two interested - eight to go!
I can heartily recommend them. Anyone with an early or mid tiger should try to get them. Not that there is anything wrong with the originals, but these are so much cooler. They drop right in without adjustments and look awesome when driving.
I am still using my old, worn, aluminum sprocket rings. It doesn't look like they are wearing out any faster than with the old tracks.

A little too much is about right...
