Wear on hull.

Having run the tank around for a short while before painting I've stripped everything off the Hull sides to do some weld seams and paint. I stripped off the drive sprocket/gearbox,I cleaned the sides up and noticed there is evidence of the drive gear rubbing against the Hull side.

Is this normal? If not how do i combat it.Ive thought about using some flat nylon washers that I've got on some forward controls on my chopper.Any advise would be greatly appreciated .

Someone did a mod to the king tiger mod where they machined a circular recess into the drive gear and then filled it with a protruding nylon puck I think.

Did you Loctite the main drive gear into the bearings in the final drive casing ?

Thank you Brian,I haven't had the chance to do any reading up on it but that sounds like a plan.

Adrian,no I haven't,Is that the recommended way of doing it?

I didn't pick up on that in the instructions Adrian but now I've read a few posts I can see that it's the correct procedure.

The locktite symbol has a broken line going to the inner race of the bearing.Thank you for pointing it out to me.

Glen that’s just a typo. Another part of the armortek ‘mystique’ I suppose !

Glen that’s just a typo.
As has been suggested, gluing the shaft to the inner race is the easiest solution, but I still wonder if that broken line is actually a typo.

On the Tiger 131 manual, it shows loctite on the outside of the bearings and on the shaft of the main drive gear:

Thank you for your help fellas, but this brings me to another question...How do I scuff the outer bearing races so the locktite bonds to them?If tried a needle file and a scribe but neither seem to make much impression.I could put a diamond cutting disc on my dremmel if that's what I need to do.

I never have.

I use Loctite 641, which is designed for retaining bearings, and assume that most bearings are smooth stainless steel and that Henkel will have taken that into consideration when designing their formula.

Thanks Adrian,I've got 638 and 262 which are thread locks,so I'll order some 641.
