Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
How long is a piece of string ?
Firstly, I'm not sure what model you're talking about - a Panther G, or a Panzer IV G ?
The main thing, though, is how well you build and paint it, and any extras you add to it. Personally, I doubt that many Armortek kits, once built, are worth anywhere near their original cost price. But that's not why we buy them. Some people, of course, build beautiful replicas of actual historical vehicles (we all know who they are !) which at least hold their value and probably make a profit.
Ultimately, though, it depends on somebody actually wanting to buy YOUR model for a price you're prepared to accept. But, as a rule of thumb, I'd suggest that you don't buy and build these things on the assumption you're on to a money-spinner. Build them because you're interested in the history, the engineering, or because you want a big toy to play with. That's where the value lies.
Sorry if that bursts your bubble !

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
Well put Chris, its not the cost of these models that matters its the joy of building and owning one ( or several ), I also do see though if someone wants to make a quick buck, its up to the individual concerned but the quality of the build does matter to the value obviously so its up to the buyer what they want to pay at the end of the day !

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
Some professional builders do charge as much as the cost of the kit to assemble and finish the model. It’s maybe only a couple clients and builders worldwide. Not a large market.

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
Which is about the only way to make money on a model ! The ones I know of are very good and quite quick. But, as you say, it's a very small marketplace. And anyway, building them yourself is a large slice of the fun. And believe me, you don't need an engineering degree or a mechanic's workshop to do it ......Brian Ostlind wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 9:44 pmSome professional builders do charge as much as the cost of the kit to assemble and finish the model.

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
Hi
It is a Panther G the kit is 2006
I am more than aware of the ,what someone will pay for something at the time ,and it is worth more than a £1 and less than £100,000 !
I am building it as a hobby not to resell.
I bought the complete kit from a deceased estate about 6 months ago. and was just looking for an approximate price that's all.
is it £2000 or £10000 either way does not worry me as it is not for sale it is more of curiosity that's all.
thanks for looking
Sean

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
Well, I'm looking for Armortek models and prices in Germany, just for fun. It's a little curious for me that average built and painted tank models are offered for 5.500 € and above, but are sold for 3.000 € and lower in the end.....

kind regards
Gerhard

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
That's the difference between someone wanting to get their money back for the kit and the options, and what the market will actually bear.

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
OK, that's right, but I wonder why some guys buy a kit, leave it for years and then try to sell it again. Others build it up and leave it then uncared for years. I don't think that a tank model is a profitable financial investment. Guys may like assembling, or may like to play with it in the fields (like me), but who likes to own some cartons with aluminium sheets inside stored in the basement?
E.G. my Jagdpanther is more than eight years old. It was assembled, it was completed, it was rebuilt (another suspension), it was nearly finished; all this by overall three owners; but no one really USED it, either as a display model or as a driving model in the field.

Re: RE PANZER AUSF G
Thanks Gerhard
That gives me an idea now
I will finish building it and enjoy it.
If I decide to sell I will let you know.
