Steve’s Kingtiger
I have recently bought a 2009 issue Kingtiger that has been started but never completed.
So for all those awaiting the latest issue KT I thought I would post some build photos to give you a taste of what’s to come.
My plan for this KT is to strip down what has already been done and reassembly it the way I like it to be done, then I know everything is properly etch primed and assembled so that all the fasteners are threadlocked. I plan a fairly quick build for this one as I need to sell it on before the arrival of my Chieftain (to many tanks and not enough room)
Regards
Steve

Re: Steve’s Kingtiger
Here,s a quick and easy mod for all those that are going to build the next release of the Kingtiger.
I am assuming that the drive motors will be mounted in a similar way to my 2009 build and as such there is limited clearance between the motor mount and the forward left torsion bar clamp bolt. In fact the clearance only allows the use of a grub screw.
The solution is very easy, just cut away the area of the engine mount directly above the torsion bar and you can now fit a cap head bolt in this position allowing much greater torque to be applied.
The photo below shows what I have done on all my Kingtiger builds.

Re: Steve’s Kingtiger
The kingtiger is making good progress, the lower hull is now complete with the exception of the wheel hubs which are waiting for some bolt detail to be added. All electronics have been installed and I will give it a test run before bringing it to Tank fest.
Hope to see many of you at Tank fest

Re: Steve’s Kingtiger
Great progress Steve. King Tiger is looking great. Can you tell me how you treated the tow and track ropes? Did you paint them or did you use some form of metal blackening solution?
Still don't know how to go about mine.

Re: Steve’s Kingtiger
Hi Vince
I believe the tow and track cables are after market parts and not the original Armortek ones, I bought this Kingtiger as a unfinished second hand tank and so cannot tell you where the cables came from.

Thanks all the same Steve.
Still at a loss with what to do with my nice and shiny ropes.

Excellent stuff as usual Steve, I particularly like the weald lines they are not excessive.
