Finally The King Tiger has arrived.

Post by Fredrik Jorgensen »

I have waited so long for this one to be made, and i almost ordered the Jagd..hehe lucky me that i didnt. Great model but the King IS the ultimate one. Just the sheer size is massive and as it looks on the picks impressive details and loads of goodies on it from scratch.
Wife wasnt happy thou but that seems as a common problem for us all
I guess all my 4 tamyias will be sent of to the bookcase for dioramas or some now :)

Cant wait till the batches are sent out

Hi Nick,
A 1/6 Metal Maus? Maybe too huge & heavy for most of R/C tankers. But of course it's welcome! :D

BTW, as Mark & Gill mentioned before that the King Tiger probably too heavy. Isn't it a better idea to install 2 more powerful motors?

Hi Fredrik,

Glad to see another Swede beginning this hobby - what took you so long? :D
Happy to have yet another individual to speak about this in my own language later on.
You are in for a thrill, get ready as you will have no more time for family, house, pets, social life, whatever and constantly short of money...

Cheers
Kent

Hi Nick and Chang

We try to reproduce scale performance in all our models. Now the king tiger was not renowned for its automotive performance. To say that it was grossly under powered would be a bit of an under statement. For our model we have used a motor with 20% more speed and power than that used in our Tiger 1. Additionally we have changed the gearbox ratio so that the King Tiger is a little slower, but this has given a huge increase in torque, of nearly 100%. The net result is a model that will pull a load of about 15 tons on level ground and climb just about anything it can maintain grip on, and that is most things.
Any more performance and the whole thing would end up way out of scale.

Hey Nick and Chang, Here's a picture of what your King Tiger will look like the day you become an official owner, although I'm sure the box'es will be much bigger. Image

Thanks willie for the advice. No doubt there will be several big carton boxes of KT parts to come. The bigger the better! :D

Hi Gill/Mark,
Just curious:
(1) From all of photos released, the 4 shackles are not hang on where they belong. Are they omitted in this model?

(2) The front & rear hull supporters shown in Tiger-1 later type:
http://www.armortek.co.uk/gallery/main. ... temId=2955
Do they also included in King Tiger?

Regards,

Lerh Chang

Hi Fellas.
Thats an interesting point Lee has brought up but...surely having looked at the photo's in the advertising for the King Tiger and then placing your order after deciding that you like what you see, i feel sure that Mark and Gill will deliver what they have advertised, indeed all the extra working cable brackets lamps etc on the K.T. will i feel sure just be part of the Armortek continued quest for the ultimate scale model in 1/6. I for one am very confident that the K.T. will live up to our expectations.
Just my two penny worth

Hello everyone

Paul is correct. The kit will be provided with all the parts as advertised and all the detailed improvements as shown in the photos and on the prototypes. Details such as the correct pattern tow shackles are not shown and not included. Some further development of the model will take place between now and delivery in order to rectify some design features that are not quite correct. These will include the following mods:

Turret side chamfers reduced in size
Rear deck row of bolts increased from six to seven
Turret top hatch bracket shape corrected.
Wing nuts fitted to all deck clamps
Headlamp bracket rotated 90degs.
Turret front slot reduced in length
Side skirt attachment improved.
Mesh grill pattern corrected
Rear turret door hinge detail improved.

The motion pack will also include some significant improvement to be confirmed at a later date. Overall the model will represent easily the best detailed and most accurate to date.
