Off topic 1/8th Tiger not selling
Hi,
Just morbid curiosity. I looked at this once and now ebay is sending me notifications of price drops:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112737507878?ul_noapp=true
Obviously not a patch on Armortek but not a bad price?
Sorry if too off-topic.
Cheers
Sam

A good price is what you're happy to pay
I had one from eBay for about a third of that price back in 2013 and although it came with the petrol motor and gearbox, blank firer etc, it wasn't running or painted. I ended up part exchanging it for a 1/6th M1T King Tiger, because everything else I have is 1/6th, so it looked out of place.
1/8th is good if you have restricted space, and being all metal it still has that solid weighty presence, but there are no 1/8th accessories, figures etc available to go with it.
Plus there are no spares available, so once you've used up all your spare track links, you're left with a big metal door stop.
Adrian.

Re: Off topic 1/8th Tiger not selling
It's advertised as being "for sale with twin electric drive" and the photos show two motors, ESCs and batteries, but also says "sold as static model", so I'm guessing the electrics are U/S. Maybe someone needs to look into that for the seller...

This guy wants 530 for a built Tamia 1/16th https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-1-16t ... 2876559494 (AKA gateway tank)
Anyway, I'd better get back to studying Bosch headlights and early Tiger 1's.

Following up off-topic post with changing the topic of a post...
Is this the correct headlight for an early production Tiger 1?
http://relicsww2.com/index.php?route=pr ... uct_id=412
I think we are going for two on the deck although I've only found one picture with this configuration:
More for our preference than historical accuracy.
Thanks
Sam

Yes (it is correct) and all Tigers were equipped with two headlights until August 1943. From the, the right headlight was deleted and from Oct 1943, the remaining left headlight was moved to a central position. Plenty of references out there. Hope this helps. Stephen

most models of any worth go through peaks and troughs of value, these modelworks tigers are currently in the doldrums and are great value, but you do need some modelling skills to bring them up to date, when you consider some plastic tamiya tank kits are £500 +, i think at the moment they are one to watch, regards simon.

Re: Off topic 1/8th Tiger not selling
Any future profit in the 1/8 scale Tiger has already been accounted for, though if one was planning to invest for future profits there are far better options out there that are more likely to give a better return, unfortunately the price on this Tiger will only go up in value if 1/8 scale becomes the dominant scale hence why the more popular 1/16 scale has £500 second hand Tigers, if the market plummets with 1/16 scale as it has with 1/8 scale then you wont see £500 1/16 scale Tigers any more, its all about demand.

Re: Off topic 1/8th Tiger not selling
Hi,
I've been offered £1000 already/refused, quality items like this will only go up in value regardless of a few silly comments on items worth due to scale preference.
Cheers

Hi David,
You have been offered (and rejected) 1000 for a 1/8th Tiger?
The 1/1 scale market prices seem to be holding up http://relicsww2.com/index.php?route=pr ... ct_id=1177
How much does Armortek charge for these bits?
Regards
Sam
