Hello

Post by Stephen Mason »

Hi everyone.

My name is Steve and I have just bought an early Armortek Tiger 1 that is about 90% completed and has option pack 1 and 2 already installed. I must say that I am really pleased with this tank and the quality of the parts etc. I already have a 1/6 King Tiger and had wanted an Armortek Tiger 1 for some time now.

I am looking forward to completing my Tiger 1 over the coming weeks. The only dislike I have with my Tiger 1 is the fact that the previous owner has added quite severe battle damage to the front and rear mudguards, exhaust shrouds and the side skirts. I am not against some battle damage but for my taste the damage that has been a bit severe.
Therefore I am looking to replace these parts and add my own battle damage (not so severe though) and was wondering if anyone has the parts required that they may have upgraded with aftermarket parts that they might be willing to sell. I will be adding some aftermarket parts of my own in time, hatches and other small parts etc but for now I am just looking for the standard Armortek mudguards, exhaust shrouds and skirts.

I would like to say a big thank you to Gill for all of the help that she has given me over the last few weeks in answering my questions and helping me with my search for a Tiger 1. :D

I am also looking forward to having many a discussion on this forum in the future with other Armortek owners. :)

Steve

Welcome Steve,

I know that Steve Winstone and Mike Standard both have a fair amount of upgrades, you will probably want thier exhaust shrouds and fenders. Did you ask Mark and Gil for spare mud guards? Just go to the craftsman market.

Thanks for the replies guys

I will ring Gill and Mark tomorrow and ask them about the parts that I will require.

I had to lift the tank onto a workbench today. What a struggle. Even with the turret and deck removed it still felt like it weighed a ton. A lot different than my King Tiger to lift. Looks like it is off down to the gym for a few body building sessions very soon.

Hello Steve

A lot of us have a hydrolic lift table from machine mart 300kgs.As they are easy to move about and you drive them on and work at different Hieghts.
And we all have squeekie voices from lifting them up. :P

Hi Steve

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the Tiger. If you're lifting your Tiger by yourself, you don't need to go to the gym. :)

It's good everyone has different taste when it comes to battle damage so we can see all different degrees of it in the gallery. I tend to agree with you, it can be too severe at times. The nice thing for you is once you get your new parts, you'll have the spare "damaged" ones if you should ever want to swap out for a change now and again. I am planning on doing this for my Panther's fenders, schurtzen, side mud guards, stow boxes and exhaust shrouds. One set weathered but undamaged and another set damaged/bent up.

Great to have you on the forum and I hope to see your Tiger soon(not to mention your King Tiger) :D

Kind regards

Tim

Steve,

I have the early Tiger and I am sure you won't be dissapointed with it, its a great model. I know what you mean about moving and lifting it. I can only move mine with the turret, deck and batteries removed. Then it is just possible for two to lift.

I didn't do any battle damage to mine as I couldn't bring myself to bash it about but over the years natural damage has appeared which loks very realistic.

The gym has not improved my tank lifting strength at all so it is time to give the gym up. I lasted all of two days.

Time now to possibly invest in a hydraulic lifting table which should make life a lot easier when wanting to get the Tiger to a decent working height as you have suggested.

I have ordered a few more aftermarket parts for it tonight and I am looking forward to the arrival of these parts.

As soon as I can I will post some pictures of my Tiger 1 and my King Tiger on here.
