Bump stops.

I've been looking at the suspension parts and wondering about the missing bump stops.
Vince made some a while ago but I don't know how many people have fitted them
Is the jury still out on whether they are a required item or not
Roland (Mann) - how did you manufacture yours

They look superb

Hi Adrian
Like you i missed the boat on Vince Abbot bump stops so i improvised. All you need do is put two tap washers on a m5 bolt through the holes provided front and back and fill the rest as not needed, secure these with a washer and nylock nut. When all the wheels are on and the tank's been driven through mud you will never see them, mine have been on for two years with no problems.Cost £1.
All the best
Marc

I made my bump stops from 12.7 mm nylon stock bar, drilled and bolted to the bolt hole adjacent to the suspension arm. Unlike Marc, I fitted a full set . I also agree with Marc that they cannot be seen .

Dale,
Foer us guys who's Tigers are sagging a little at the rear (comes to us all mate!!) these bump stops could be usefull to raise the rear road wheels a little if the rubber were to be replaced with a strongish spring to augment the torsion bar. Has anyone done this mod??

Hi Adrian,
thank you for the flowers as we say here in germany. My bump stops are made of different parts from steel exept the rubber cubes. Base is a steel profile angle 25x25x2 mm. The two rounds of 7 mm Ø are placed in it. All comes together with silver soldering step by step. Best impression gives the photo in my gallery, album hull, page 2 with photo DSC 008. Here you still see the parting lines of the different parts just after siver soldering and milling the final assembly. The rubber is glued on a 1 mm stainless plate and hold in place by two M2 brass bolts - as it was on the real thing.
OK, I agree with with other members, ones the tracks are fitted you can hardly see the bump stops. However, I feel fine and find my peace of mind as it is with so many other items.
Best regards Roland

Dale - thank you for the close ups of your design, they look to be something I should be able to recreate here.
Roland - thank you for the explanation of your construction method, I can see now from your pictures how the part was built up. I've not done any silver soldering yet so these might be an interesting part on which to learn.
Adrian.

Hi Dale,
Is it possible that you could forward me a copy of the template that you used to make your bumpstops please? I would like to add these missing bumpstops to my Tiger.
Many thanks.

Hello Adrian . I have the bump stop template as of today . Can you PM me your address then I will post it to you . Adrian I will buy enought rubber stoppers to make up four or five set . you only need four per tiger . That way after you have traced around the template and used your four stoppers , you can then post it onto the other guys on forum .
Adrian I have two spare sherman hatch lines would you like them for your sherman ?? Dale
